Klang Valley is a big melting pot of culture. Every now and then it’s not uncommon to come across a few people dressed head to toe in heat, and more often than not, it’s easy for the streetwear head to intersect with another decked out in a completely different style than you, and the level of diversity we have should be celebrated. While the sneaker scene here has been on the major rise thanks to the influx of extremely hype silhouettes, the city’s streetwear roots actually lie deep within skateboarding.

However, both of these realms often intersect, and as such, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best skate shops and streetwear shops scattered around the Klang Valley region.

Skate Shops

Showroom

One of the most OG skate shops around, Showroom is a one-stop-shop for all things skating. While stocking mostly apparel from Obey, Dickies, Undefeated, Ben Davies, Huf, and local brands like Against Lab, the store also sells new decks, wheels, and axles complete with a mini-half pipe to try your skateboard out before fine-tuning it.

Krookz KL

Krookz has been around for a fairly long time. First opening its doors back in 2008, the store only has gone stronger and better with each passing year. The store is the only one here in Malaysia that carries Gosha Rubchinsky’s skateboard subdivision brand, PACCBET, as well as bringing in merch from Southeast Asia and endorsing local skateboarders with it. Pretty solid stuff.

Isetan The Japan Store

While this isn’t necessarily a standalone brick and mortar store, the flagship does bring over highly coveted brands from the land of the Far East, straight to you, the consumer. Only caveat is the impending hole in your wallet once you browse through its subsections. Mastermind Japan, Undercover, Commes Des Garcons, Porter, Off-White, all available under one roof.

However, look out for the grails on offer; a particular hand painted Collette shirt for last year’s Complex Con still sits on the shelf somewhere in the store.
