We promise you, this isn’t a bad remix of an old classic. The women’s exclusive Jordan 1 is one of many silhouettes restyled in-house by 18 of Nike’s female designers, as a representation of inclusivity by the footwear giant. As a result, and a fairly simple brief given by Footwear Director Andy Caine (of which the brief reads: Make some cool shit), the AJ1 Reimagined “Chicago” is birthed.
One of the most prominent features of the shoe is the laces, which are stretched towards the lateral side all the way to the ankle guard. The shoe also includes a zipper on the medial portion for easy slip-on or off, negating any function that the laces could offer. A relief too, as we cannot imagine tying and retying the laces on this one. Most of the features that make the Air Jordan 1 aren’t changed, which includes the toe box, black swoosh, and embossed Jumpman logo remain true to its original counterpart.
The Air Jordan 1 Rebel “Chicago” will be available on Nike for a retail price of approximately RM 580 in women’s sizing. Fancy a refresh? Or still true to the OG?
