AKUDESIGN recently collaborated with Asmoe, an internationally acknowledged graffiti artist based in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the graffiti scene and culture in Malaysia by educating their audience about graffiti. Akudesign believes that this collaboration stays true to the essence of streetwear culture as this collaboration involves street art and streetwear that keeps this collaboration as authentic as possible. The tagline that represents this collaboration is, ‘STYLE STILL MATTERS’ where Asmoe mentions:
‘…great letters come with a solid understanding of the basic foundations and styles. Styles is the main vocabulary in graffiti, as it conveys messages among the writers, without a strong style, it is difficult for writers to move on to the next level’ – Asmoe
To commemorate this collaboration, AKUDESIGN and Asmoe did a masterpiece at Melaka, nearby Coconut Shake Klebang where an old abandoned TNB station is located. This location was chosen as it gives an old look that will allow the artwork to stand out. AKUDESIGN released a clothing line and a few accessories for the official launch of this collaboration on the 12th of May at AKUDESIGN Concept Store.
