Malaysian based aspiring artist fills his instagram with  wicked yet chucklesome skulls and cartoon like drawings of himself and people he knows. “I love skulls, evil and darkness” says Qairul. He’s inspired by pointillism style of art and into simple strokes or lines.  He is currently studying at MSU, Shah Alam doing his Degree in Graphic Design. So we got the chance to ask Qairul a few questions on his artwork and his thoughts.

1.What are the inspirations behind your artwork?

I love skull, evil and darkness. Because to me there’s always good in evil and evil in good. But my works are more about how the world works and sometimes I just draw something that appears in my mind. I like simple strokes and lines plus some hatching and pointillism styles.

2.How did you get into drawing?

I started drawing and doodling in class since standard 2. And I draw whenever I’m bored and learn new strokes and styles.

3. What do you think about Nicki Minaj?

Buns? Hahaha.

4.Does your anaconda don’t want none unless they got buns?

I don’t like big buns. Hahaha

5. LOL, okay, back to business, are you planning to take a serious path to this hobby? (career lah)

Maybe. Even now I’m doing my degree in Graphic Design. So far, I just follow the flow.

6. What are your thoughts on the local creative scene today?

For me, art in Malaysia is growing massively. There’s so many talented artist who is now getting themselves exposed which is good for the art scene in Malaysia, and for me too.
