Kickstarting The Marksmen Series for the new year of 2016 will be fashion photographer Ewan Jade. He was born in Portsmouth, UK, but now calls Gombak his home and base. His passion for photography first bloomed back in 2007 when he was involved in a class project for his high school annual magazine. From there, he got hooked on photography and started buying photography magazines to improve his knowledge as computers and the internet were not so easily available back then.
Although we label Ewan as a fashion photographer, when we ask him what kind of photographer would he classify himself as, here’s what he said:-
I’m just a photography (by definition) enthusiast.
What is the most satisfying thing you enjoy about photography?
Getting to produce well composed pictures effectively yet managed to convey certain emotions.
What gear do you use?
As of now, I’m using the Nikon D7000 and Canon Powershooter G12
My editing process is tailored according to the situation. The difference is, my Instagram pictures are more personal as I’m very particular with my feed while for professional use, it is according to my clients’ requests but at the same time still maintaining my very own aesthetics.
It’s nice to see the growth of our local photography community where we see different individuals having interest in various genres of photography. Photography equipment is cheaper than before and it’s easier to get exposure with the help of various types of platforms in social media. The future looks bright.
