An idea for adaptive reuse was conceived when the architectural design team ( Singaporean firm L Architects ) was tasked to design the head office and gallery of Casa Property Development Sdn Bhd. The idea was to turn a row of abandoned half-built shop offices into a barn-like structure where it attempts to blend into its surrounding landscape. The eight series of three-story building is located near to the coast of the Johor straits just across Singapore. The architects preserved the gable roofs and metal-framed structures, relying on material textures and patterns to give new life to the old buildings. The modern adaptive reuse project harmoniously combines a mix of hard concrete, metal decking lines, patterned brickwork, glass, and porous green walls.
Take a look at the barn-like structure above and let us know your thoughts.
