For many, the home is an extension of who we are and how we live through our daily routines. What is better than storing, displaying and admiring your possessions in style in your very own personal space? A limited edition collection SPÄNST is crafted to furnish the homes and the streets for the active, urban nests of today. The collection is designed in collaboration with Chris Stamp, the LA-based fashion designer and creative director of Stampd, where SPÄNST emphasizes on the beauty in terms of aesthetics when it comes to organizing and displaying our most prized possessions. The collection is meant for consumers to uncover their lifestyle, where the essence of artistry is used to exhibit possessions indoors or outdoors.
SPÄNST’s starting point was to explore the changes and needs of young, urban consumer’s homes today. A number of items from the collection are designed by Maja Ganszyniec, a frequent IKEA collaborator, who graduated from London Royal College of Art. She runs her design studio in Warsaw and has maintained a close relationship with IKEA since 2014. The team met in New York for the first time, surprised to find that most of their initial ideas were similar when they discussed regarding smart materials, monochrome colours with graphic elements and more. Inspired by the sports industry and the conscious consumer, these people are not only concerned with their appearance but also how they display their possessions where beautifying the interior of their space is necessary. This explains the reasoning behind some of the items in the collection such as the mesh wardrobe, transparent shoeboxes and more, where aesthetics is the priority.
The SPÄNST collection will be available May 2018 onwards, with a price range from RM12.90 to RM1,499.00. Let’s all hope that there will be enough for everyone.
