Merdeka Day may have just waltzed by, but with Malaysia Day just on the horizon our inner patriots and spirit of unity are still dialled up to eleven… and it’s even more so for this trio of distinct brands!
The ice cream specialists at Softsrve are currently joining hands with fashion label Third Culture and vibrant pin-makers Pantun Pins for a Merdeka-inspired collaboration.
The result? No, it’s not a piece of clothing made out of strawberry ice cream, with cute little pins to substitute buttons. That would have been really jaw-dropping awesome though, at least until the ice cream shirt concedes to Malaysia’s sweltering heat, leaving behind a sticky mess.
What they’ve got for us instead are oodles of cuteness, comfort and happiness in the form of a delectable Banana Milk Soft Serve ice cream, a minimalist Third Culture exclusive tee and four unique pins especially for Softsrve.
There’s probably a question forming at the back of your head at this point: “I’m all for cuteness, comfort and ice cream (a.k.a happiness), but what’s so “Merdeka-inspired” about this collaboration?”
The answer is not prominent in the goodies offered, but rather the groups that are offering them. The quality t-shirt maker, pin maker and ice cream parlour in question may have little in common, save for the fact that they’re all homegrown. They’re very different, but at their core they’re all Malaysian. It’s a timely reminder that there is unity and beauty in our diversity.
