After a preview at last year’s KLFW 2018, Ayu by Tarik has finally had a chance to fully develop its line and has presented its first full womenswear collection for KLFW 2019 that combines the main line’s penchant for music, visuals and rugged lifestyle that’s uniquely Tarik.
Mimi Lee, the Head of Womenswear at Tarik had this to say, “Ayu by Tarik is a love letter to all the ladies out there who’ve always been a fan of Tarik Jeans. As a solo debut, this collection is filled with all kinds of emotion. It’s romantic, melancholy, agressive with the inevitable nosebleed of rock n roll. ‘SALVAGED’ is chosen as the name of this collection to signify ‘preservation’. If you look it up, the word ultimately means ‘to save goods from damage or destruction’ which is what we are doing here with sustainability being the big idea. This is responsible fashion at its best and Ayu by Tarik is honoured to be selected by KLFW and the United Nations Technology Innovation Lab (UNTIL) to headline this segment.”
The collection also included several helping hands from other artists and designers such as Suri Lifestyle, Secret Art Touch, Weng Rajaie, Nessy, Yati of Society Vamp, and Gula Gula Handmade.
Comprising of 20 looks, some of it was derived from Tarik’s ASAS and Selaseh capsule, and also included three new T-shirt designs in collaboration with Malaysian supermodel, Tinie.
While there have been no announcements made on the collection’s release date, have a look at what went down on the runway.
