It has always been a regret that there isn’t any collection that features Malaysia culture despite being a local brand. Therefore, Nerdunit is excited with their latest capsule collection called “KAYARAYA”. For this collection, Nerdunit is honoured to work with Malaysia’s award-winning fashionista Andre Amir and Asia’s Top Fashion Influencer Emma Shazleen Ali. The Raya capsule collection consist of 4 items which is a reversible jacket, mock neck tee, straight cut jogger and a sling handbag. This special collaboration collection is inspired by various elements from the Malay culture such as Pendekar Melayu and songket etc.
What’s interesting is that they’ve manage to reconstructed the traditional Baju Layang and gave it a modern twist. Applying typical bomber jacket material to the baju layang silhouette, the jacket is made reversible, with black on the other side for daily wear. On the sleeves, Nerdunit’s signature emblem can be seen, upgraded with delicate gold thread embroidery and pucuk rebung patterns to resemble the songket.
Inspired by the Baju Melayu’s Cekak Musang, the Motive Mock Neck Tee is Nerdunit’s depiction of the traditional baju. Adding soft velvet with gold thread embroidery, as well as premium gold hardware to accentuate the luxurious touch of this top.
The Motive Reconstructed Jogger is inspired by the traditional “seluar” cutting, designed for comfort and ease of movement. Dual striking emerald green velvet stripes and gold zipper hardware are added on the sides to give it a touch of luxury to everyday comfort.
Last but not least, The Construction Handbag is inspired by the Pendekar pouch. The multi-purpose bag is spacious for busy, multi-tasking citizens, and glammed up with Nerdunit’s signature wide shoulder strap and premium gold hardware.
