Crossover‘s coming collaboration with Timex is finally here! Crossover painted it all black on Timex’s CAMPER timepiece on their latest collaboration. Following up on the soon to be release watch, we managed to have a quick fire question session with Jem, Owner of Crossover to share inspirations behind the ‘Paint it Black’ CAMPER watch.
Tell us the concept behind “Paint It Black”.
“Black is the official colourway for Crossover. By painting it black, we’re taking the classic CAMPER model, which is usually associated with its army green colourway, giving a whole new all-black look. Paint It Black is also the official song for Tour of Duty; a famous 90’s US drama series on Vietnam war; a war that inspired the original CAMPER model.”
Why choose to collaboration with TIMEX?
“Timex is one of those brands that has created a whole new industry of its own. Timex change the concept of timepiece; by not only focusing on creating watches that merely pieces of accessories that tell time, but by creating timepieces that became part of the many cultures throughout the years. It is a privilege to coll aborate with such name, as Crossover is always pursuing to be more than just a retailer. We strive to influence our surrounding, our culture & our society; to remain relevant throughout the years, just as TIMEX is.”
What’s the significant element of the watch ?
“One of the most prominent element of this collection is the changeable straps. You can go for a more casual appeal with the nylon strap or go for a more classy & timeless look with the leather strap. We’re keeping it minimal & simple as always; so the classic analogue face remain the same with a touch of Crossover skull & brand logos.”
What do you personally like about the watch the most?
“The simplicity & utilitarian concept behind the CAMPER model. What I find quite intriguing is the contradictory notion behind the timepiece; despite being a watch designed for war time, its not fragile.”
