Maximunity, a brand with the Sub-Rosa logo. Maybe you are not familiar with the Sub-Rosa. During the French Revolution, the rebels used the sub-rosa for exchanging info or leaving marks. Maximunity used Sub-Rosa as their logo because they are not just making clothes but also try to deliver some subtle message about politics, humanity, socialism etc to the society.

When they are doing these graphic printings on t-shirts, their wordings are inspired by Chinese “Wu Xia” novel. What’s so special about the “Wu Xia” novel is it doesn’t have wrath and untouchable characters which usually appear in normal genre novel, simplified that there are just good and bad guys. But in the “Wu Xia” novel, the author gives the both sides very strong characteristics like the good guy will have some weakness and the bad guy will also have some humanity appearance when it comes to particular plot or scene. It makes the whole story much more closer to our reality life, and balance the conflicts of both side. That’s why it is so interesting. In their new collection, they are trying to bring the fun play of Chinese philosophy which about balance and play it with modern form of graphic art. Maximunity hopes that they can bring the message that sometimes it isn’t that good when good things happen, and sometimes bad isn’t that bad.

Before they successfully or completely establish their brand image, their collection are still around the silhouette of goth and street wear (skate wear). When comes to designing clothes and graphic prints, they are staying focus on seeking a balance of mixture between street culture, bikers wear, gothic, punk and try to deliver some subtle message about humanity.

Basically, thy are not preparing their collection with one concept per collection, but practicing a different way on making clothes, which every new collection was like they are providing a different view but actually observing a same object.
