In conjunction of Merdeka, Pestle & Mortar Clothing marks their first international brand collaboration with internationally known brand, Rastaclat. The local Malaysian brand showcase the pride of Southeast Asia’s heritage art of batik in Rastaclat’s bracelets. The collaboration features a single bracelet designed with the traditional batik pattern but stylised and coloured with a modern twist to appeal to and suit today’s fashion landscape. Koh took the opportunity to collaborate with PMC to showcase a little bit of Southeast Asian culture and heritage with the rest of the world.
“I love what they (PMC) represent – lifestyle, culture and pride. And really that’s what Rastaclat is about as well. It’s about being confident of where you’re from, who you are and what you are,” said founder of Rastaclat, Daniel Kasidi.
“Batik has been a very integral part of our design arsenal since our inception,” says Hugh Koh, Creative Director and co-founder of Pestle & Mortar Clothing.
“We wanted something that would adequately represent who we are and where we come from, and that has always been what we do with Batik as an artistic tradition and representation.”
The PMC X Rastaclat bracelet drops this 31st August 2017 (Pre-Order starts this 28th August 2017), on Malaysia’s Independence Day, and will be exclusively available in-store and online at Pestle & Mortar Clothing and Major Drop.
