Tired of his life and fed up with his materialistic wife, Carolyn, he decides to quit his job, smoke weed and develops a lusting for Jane (his daughter)’s best friend Angela. However, his abrupt transformation comes with consequences for the family as Carolyn commits adultery and Jane struggles with her insecurities. A dark comedy with cynical views of the American suburb life, American Beauty is a joy to watch particularly with Kevin Spacey’s portrayal of Lester.
