Assuming one of your life’s goals is to quite literally score goals, Brazilian professional footballer Neymar Jr has a tempting proposition that bonafide lovers of “The Beautiful Game” will pay attention to. Finally making his dream of carrying his own signature tournament a reality, Neymar is inviting players from over 35 countries across 6 continents to team up for the Neymar Jr’s Five tournament.

I have always dreamed of carrying my own signature tournament and inviting the best teams over to my hometown. This is finally becoming a reality,” says the striker.

The five-a-side tournament, with the main objective being to outplay the opposition by scoring as many goals in the fastest time possible, stays true to Neymar’s roots and style of play. It is set up in group stages and play offs, allowing every team a chance to play multiple games.

There’s a catch, though. Every goal the opposing team scores against you will force you to send one play off the pitch, meaning a domino effect could transpire where the first goal you concede paves the way for your opponents to score with intensifying ease. Each game will last a total of 10 minutes or until one team has lost all 5 players. When the whistle blows, the team with the most players wins the round.

The winning team from this national qualifier will represent Malaysia at the finals this July on Neymar Jr’s home ground, Praia Grande. Held at Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, the establishment is a non-profit education and sports complex founded by Neymar Jr and his family.

If your team manages to win it all at Neymar Jr’s Five world finals, all of you will also be Neymar’s guests for a match at Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain! Note that Malaysia is one of the very few Southeast Asian countries that have the privilege to compete in this tournament, so do not waste the opportunity.

Gather up a team of 5 to 7 players anywhere from 16 to 25 years old if you are keen on taking part in this tournament! Submit your application now over at this site and prepare for the national qualifiers this coming 14th May at University Malaya. Application period concludes on Sunday, 8th May.
