If you have no idea what #MakeAPromise is, its a campaign where Louis Vuitton partners with UNICEF to support children in need. Their aim is to raise funds for the organization and give support to children who are exposed to conflict, diseases, natural disasters and other situations that threaten their safety and well-being.
How does the campaign work, you ask? Louis Vuitton has launched a special edition Silver Lockit that has a lock pendant with Louis Vuitton’s monogram on it. It is inspired by the unpick-able tumbler lock invented by Georges Vuitton in 1890 as a symbol of protection—also sealing one’s promise to help children in urgent need. The Lockit is available in necklace and bracelet form that are being sold for RM2,300 each in Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide and on louisvuitton.com/lvforunicef. With each purchase, RM900 will be donated to UNICEF. Alongside the Silver Lockit, Louis Vuitton’s digital campaign #MAKEAPROMISE aims to raise awareness and funds around the world at the occasion of the sixth biennial UNICEF Ball in Los Angeles.
Recently, our very own Datuk Nicol David and Deborah Henry have joined the campaign in making a promise to help children that are in urgent need and to make the world a better place for them. Aside from being one of the world’s top female squash players, Datuk Nicol David has devoted her time to raisefunds for the National Heart Institution as well as relief aid for the tsunami and earthquake victims in Japan. Former Miss Universe Malaysia, Deborah Henry co-founded Fugee School, a non-profit charity organisation dedicated to providing education to refugee children from war-torn Somalia. This time they join hands with Louis Vuitton and UNICEF’s mission to provide children with essential protection, healthcare, safe water, nutrition and education. If you wish to be part of the campaign and help these children, you can get your own Silver Lockits now in any Louis Vuitton outlet now.
