ALL GONE is highly regarded in the street fashion/culture scene and has become somewhat of a bible to the scene since first being published in 2006 by French street fashion label, La MJC. The “ALL GONE: The Finest of Street Culture 2013” contains 248 pages of outstanding fashion items of the year. Making its way to our shores for the first time courtesy of Converse and CLOT, the book launch was graced by Michael  Dupouy, the founder and director of La MJC and the mastermind behind ALL GONE. CLOT co-founder, Kevin Poon, also made a guest appearance at the event and was signing books alongside Michael.

Below are some of the questions that were ask during the short interview that they during the launch. Check out the answers:-

Hello Michael, please introduce yourself to the KL people.

M: Who don’t know who I am? haha nawh, I’m just joking. I’m Michael, from Paris, I’m the editor of this book called ‘ALL GONE’. I’m friends with Kevin, and I’m please to be in KL. Nice to meet you!

What are both of your feelings bringing the ALL GONE Event to Malaysia for the first time and it being hosted in Juice KL?

M: Me, I’m super happy.I’ve been to KL six years ago for a holiday and never come back, so I’m really happy to be back. It was a long flight, and I just landed, but I’m in super good mood.

KP: I’m also very happy that Michael came from Paris to Juice KL. And it’s gonna be a big week, because there’s also a music festival happening, hopefully everyone get to see the book and to get Michael’s signature for the book tonight.

The Clot x Basquiat Millionare type font tee made its appearance in the book! What are both of your thoughts of brands showing love to modern art?

M: That’s good, the more and more we do crossover between fashion and art, the more and more we see people are happy, and it’s also easiest way for the people to get some art.

KP: Me and Michael, we both like to collect art. We’re always on the search of cool artist to add to our collections. And we’re really happy that Basquiat showed up in the book, and thanks for showing us love. Hopefully you guys will like it too!

Kevin, have you ever said to yourself that this CLOT shoe is going to appear in ALL GONE during the design & creative process? What are some things you guys look at to determine what is a good design?

KP: Uhmm, when we designed the shoe, we didn’t think about the ALL GONE Book, but I remember when we first met Michael in 2005, we’re hoping some of our products will reach the book, and we’re really happy for us when our first Clot Air Max reached the book, since then we become really good friends, we travel around the world and now we’re here today! So, we hope we can share the positive energy with all of you guys.

What are some things you guys look at to determine what is a good design?

M: I don’t really know, just have to love it. I’ve no specific criteria, just originality, not being a copy of something, and that’s it!

Are you both able to predict some of the trends for next years shoe releases based on this year releases? If so, what do you expect to see for 2014?

KP: I think by travelling around the world, we do hear some insiders information, like this year Adidas is going to do some interesting stuff with Kanye West. Obviously with Converse, there’s always an ongoing project that we’re doing with them. So, we hope that this year will be some interesting shoe releases like every year.

To Michael, how is this year’s ALL GONE book different from last years in terms of products, brands, etc.?

M: It’s 100% different, it’s not same at all. If we can talk about Converse, there’s more and more Converse that got into the book. Because they’ve been putting out new shoes that are really pushing the boundaries, really good shoes, good ideas and good quality.

What is your top 5 most favourite items in the book?

M: Converse x Neighbourhood collab, the 1000% full of woods bearbrick, the blanket from Wes Lang, The sculpture vase from Parra, and the last one is the Nate Loweman Converse.

Personally, what’s the most annoying trends in 2013?

M: That’s a good question. Seeing too many retros on the market, seeing too many vintages coming back again and again. You see when you go to the stores, they have 16 air max one and they’re all retros. It’s a bit boring for me because if you see to the future, and you see those brands that are supposed to be number one, they should put out new silhouette, and not putting out the old designs over and over again. It’s not really annoying, but for me, I’d want to see different new stuff.

KP: My brain don’t really think like that. So I don’t use the time to think about stuff that annoys me. I usually just think about stuff that’s positive. And I think the positive thing is the ALL GONE book is going asian wide this year.

What do you guys think about the hybrid sneakers?

M: Sometimes, they do a really good job, but sometimes they are boring.

KP: I like the air force one with the Lunar bottom.

If your house is on fire, which pair of shoes would you save?

M: My art and my wife. hahahaa

KP: Michael would probably just grab his iPhone first. LOL*

What is the hardest part / process about compiling a book like this?

M: I guess it would be to catalogue the items. We have to take pictures of every single item, and sometimes this items are flown in from all over the world to my office, and after taking them we have to send them back, and there are sooooooo many items. So yeah I guess that is the hardest part.
