It is no doubt that the football world is mostly a male dominated arena, but as of late, and with the help of the USA Womens Soccer team winning the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup back in July 2015 that was heavily publicised, the football world has been more open about having more females take part in the sport. Building up to the success stories of the global features of women’s football, the women’s game has been getting some attention in this part of the world too.
The million dollar question here is that are we willing to embrace female athletes in this country? For Steffi Sarge Kaur, she definitely think it is about time. 1972FC recently caught up with the National women’s football player, a 27 year old, Chinese + Punjabi + Siamese heritage hailing from Perak women that has all the football attributes to conquer the men’s game.
Did anyone ever told you that you can’t succeed in the women’s game?
Oh yea, plenty but I normally ignore them.. I believe one day we (Women’s game) will get there, we have to start somewhere innit..
What went through your head putting on the Malaysia kit? Is that your childhood dream?
My dream always been to represent the National team, it doesn’t matter which sports. I used to played football, netball, rugby, etc.. At that time, I’m just hoping that I made it the national team in any of those sports.
With all the effort, I managed to represent the country for football, futsal and surprise rugby too hahha..
