It’s no secret that Mixed Martial Arts has been on the rise in our region for a while, with One FC and UFC having major fanbases right here in our country, and it’s only a matter of time that we get a cinematic iteration of the sport. And we do now.
“Sangkar” by Kabir Bhatia reflects the story of MMA fighters Adam and Johan; a fierce rivalry that ends up with Johan being critically injured. Adam then goes on a road of redemption to atone for his mistakes, seeking forgiveness from the same man he crushed by helping out in anyway that he can while struggling to keep his mental health afloat for his family’s sake. In a bid to earn a more sizable payout, Adam goes all out and brings the fight to an international MMA fighter in order to put an end to this trial.
“Sangkar” launches at theaters nationwide on the 29th of August. It’s about time we’ve had our very own Rocky Balboa.
