Better Than “Apocalypse?”
Let’s just put it this way. While “Apocalypse” wasn’t a total disaster, it was still horrible in comparison to the previous X-Men movies and made it seem as Days Of Future Past is an Oscar winning movie. Apart from that, Disney was in talks of acquiring 20th Century Fox, which pushed the release dates back as negotiations continued on, and it may seem that the movie will have never even had a chance to surface.
Now though, it’s a whole different story, and “Dark Phoenix” seems like the most promising one yet.
The movie is set 10 years after the events of Apocalypse, focusing its plot line on Jean Gray (played by Sophie Turner) discovering her antithesis, The Phoenix after accidentally unlocking a higher power. Professor X (played by James McAvoy) tries to avoid this by not telling her the truth, which then fails as Phoenix turns to Magneto for help.
While this storyline has been foreshadowed and realised in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, this iteration follows closer to the actual comic book story then the other two, so it should be exciting to say the least.
