It seems that Altimet is the rap-packaged gift that keeps on giving. Just five days after dropping the music video SERU, the local rapper has yet again pulled off another shocker with the announcement of his follow-up single in #AMBOI.
Funked-up samples and infectious brass riffs that gel with the bouncing bass beats provide an unlikely backdrop to his satirical style on social commentary and sharp observations to comedic effect. AMBOI melds together the talent’s rhythmic tale-weaving prowess and old school vibe to make this a truly enticing listening experience. Produced and composed by Navigator, the track lives and breathes the Malaysian culture through its lyrical style and supplementary ‘dikir barat’ choral assertions.
Aesthetically, the video employs a collage cut-out style animation for humorous undertones while featuring psuedo-cameos from Joe Flizzow, Sona One, Ucopppp and Syuk SYJ and even Azwan Ali to contrast the critical dissing that ensues in the lyrics.
Produced by Fluid, AMBOI is directed by Sharizal Abd. Halim, with animation and motion graphics by Zulhelmi Zainuddin and Azarikh Amran. AMBOI is also the title track of Altimet’s new album that’s being launched on the same date as this single release.
