Malaysia’s newest summer jam details the story of the grind, the chase, the hustle to earn the dollar bills satirically, using RM1s instead of the usual 100s or 50s. The MV then details their journey following ventures from selling school knick knacks, buying things at the kedai runcit, and ending with being employed at a hair salon. All of which makes for a very humourous video watching the antics of both Lil Asian Thiccie and Zamaera with Producer SonaOne making a cameo towards the end.
Couple that with a hard hitting long decay bassline ala West Coast met with unfounded levels of chemistry between the two, makes for a bar spitting fest that complements, rather than steals the spotlight in between the two rappers.
Of course, money is the central topic here, but it rap songs have always been about flaunting the money, rather than talking about the grind for it. “So commonly in hip hop, money has always been an over-exaggerated topic. Many rappers in Malaysia talk about how much bread they got, six figures or some bull***t like that but they still be livin’ in their momma’s house and driving a raggedy ass whip like boy who you lyin too. We wanted the song to be about makin money, you know, the chase for the success”, Zamaera explains.
