Homegrown alternative rock band Modescape continues their streak of releases with their latest hit single called “Mimpi”. The band are recent signees with Universal Music Malaysia along with others bands like An Honest Mistake and Beatburns, and have since been on a healthy, steady musical incline. Their song “Hilang”, for instance, became the official soundtrack on Astro Shaw’s Aliff 7 Dimensi movie.
This time around, their latest single takes on a highly mainstream flavour by embodying a more pop-ish vibe to convey a story of lost love.
“Mimpi is about a guy losing someone he dearly loved. He longs for that person, realising that the only way for him to see the person again is through his dreams. Even if it is just a dream, it makes him happy and silently wishes that he could be in the dream forever,” says Arez, the drummer for Modescape.
The song is well polished enough to potentially set itself as a regular on local radio airwaves. Even their music video is well produced thanks to director Rosh Faizal who managed to aptly convey the band’s messaging through the scenes.
