A Malaysian hip hop collective comprising of crews, DJ’s, solo emcees, beat-makers, writers, graphic designers, photographers and purveyors of general mayhem are banded into the legion known as the Rogue Squadron. This time MicWrecka, Yang Ariff, Sxph, R.A.S.H The Warchild, Jin Hackman and WordsManifest from said collective gather around to create their newest project titled “Rogue State“.
“Rogue State is regarded as breaking international law and posing a threat to other nations. Obviously the song is not about that but it has a similar concept to what we wanted. I’ve always seen Rogue Squadron as an outsiders’ band of hip hop. We tend to break the norm- not following the trend- because the members of Rogue Squadron all have a freedom to do whatever music we want. ‘Posing a threat’ is sort of showcasing the emcee on this track and telling them that Rogue Squadron will be around no matter what. That is why we grow in numbers recruiting new homegrown acts hence for our upcoming album which is the single, titled “Rogue State,” said MicWrecka.
