Rolling in the Deep, Dark…

pit of desp- desire. Yeah, desire.

Dearest surfers of the internet, Malaysia has found its very own Rebecca Black. Our version, however, isn’t in the form of a pre-pubescent girl wrestling with the very real first-world conundrum of deciding which seat in a car she should take. Our version also doesn’t allow her vocals to be tarnished by copious amounts of autotune. Oh no, our Rebecca Black is raw, unadulterated and spends her free time rolling in the deep.

A Tamil radio channel and television host, Dato’ Geethanjali G is no stranger to letting her voice be heard. She’s also the president of both MyWomen and the Malaysian Association Of Indian Film & Entertainment Industry, and a prominent figure in championing the rights of women in the local sphere. She apparently sings in her free time, too.

Breaking gender bias for the better is one thing, but if her recent cover of Adele’s chart smashing hit ‘Rolling in the Deep‘ is any indication, she might just end up breaking audio speakers nationwide as well.

Take a listen. You can be certain that after those four minutes, there’ll be a fire starting in all your hearts. It’ll reach a fever pitch, but we’re not going to guarantee that it’ll bring you “out the dark”.

“And I’m gonna make your head burn!” Truer words were never spoken. The lady does great work in her advocacy of women empowerment, but maybe she should keep the singing a little more… private.

Enjoy the cover!
