Don’t fix what’s not broke. Vans knows this particularly well, having its design unchanged for a very long time, yet still looks very relevant to this day. So it’s only a matter of time till an update is needed, and they finally got together and piled on the latest tech in their inventory to commemorate longtime Vans global team rider, Anthony Van Engelen.
Welcome to the AVE pro, a skate shoe that culminates all of Vans know-how to improve upon a tried and tested formula, and to great results. The AVE Pro changes the upper with Rapidweld technology, heat-fusing and bonding panels together for an extremely durable upper that eliminates tear from conventional stitching. Apart from that, the shoe also includes LuxLiner tech, integrating the tongue and internal lining for a more snug and consistent fit, and combined with a molded heel counter, increases lock and keeps the structure in place.
The Ultimate Waffle outsole now integrates a shank to allow a greater degree of flexing in the forefoot, while Ultracush is built-in across the midsole for maximum impact protection. The shoe is finished off with Duracap reinforced underlays in high abrasion areas to ensure durability is not sacrificed.
Van Engelen had this to say, “With the AVE Pro—my first cupsole in 15 years—we achieved a completely transformed upper with Vans’ Rapidweld technology and improved the grip and boardfeel in the sole overall. This shoe for me was a natural progression toward making a durable, technical skate shoe.
