Over more than a decade after its release, ASICS relaunches the Gel-Kinsei, its iconic early millennial runner which first saw its debut in 2006.
Its designer, Hisanori Fujita was heavily inspired by samurai armor and wanted the sneaker to replicate the way in which it protects the body while still allowing it to move freely. The influence is applied to its overall construction with the sneaker’s heel mirroring the angle of a samurai’s katana swords.
Update with modern advancements, that include technology now aligns with the overarching aesthetics, with exposed GEL cushioning on the heel joining an Impact Guidance System to look after every step with both comfort and support. This progressive design continues to look just as polarising whether in sport and street style.
Available now for a price of RM 755, this pair channels the futuristic noughties vision with glacier grey, while hits of red and blue highlights all the necessary tech elements underfoot.
