The highly sought-after Bata Hotshots was made popular thanks to the legendary rockstar Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. The re-release of Bata Hotshots is a part of the Bata Heritage AW17 Collection. In the early 70s, Bata collaborate with Wilson to develop lightweight sneakers, the Hotshot was one of the core products of that partnership but it was only two decades later that the Bata Hotshot became a hit when Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain was spotted wearing them often.
“Hotshots is our new product launch for AW17 which we are experimenting with,” said Charles Pignal, Group Heritage director. “Outside the Bata universe, few people know that it was worn by Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. We don’t know what it was he liked about them, but we like to think it was because it was a shoe brand that was out of the mainstream, a bit different and unique.”
The first new Hotshot collection features four colour schemes in green and blue, black and yellow, blue and red, and blue and yellow. The Bata Hotshot collection will be available exclusively at the Bata store in Midvalley Megamall on Saturday, November 18th, in limited quantities, and is retailing for RM299.
