The Final Bow

A select few of beings will ever be able to leave a long and lasting legacy as impactful and recognisable as Michael Jordan, so it was a soul depleting moment for fans when the G.O.A.T stepped out of the hardwood for the last time back at the All-Star games in 2003. Naturally then, the final shoe that graced MJ’s feet, the AJ 18 was a final goodbye to the trail he’s marked out on the court. Now though, it’s making a comeback, and in better materials and colours than ever.

The Air Jordan 18 cleverly hid a few tricks up its sleeve despite its superbly clean and simple appearance. Inspiration was taken from motorsport and fast cars, a homage to Jordan’s passion for racing and the need for speed. Hence, details and cues were imbued from traditional race-car driving shoes, mixed with elements found in finer Italian dress shoes. Beneath however, presents a different story.

Carbon fibre plates were used extensively to increase torsional stiffness of the shoe, and featured a double stack Zoom Air cushioning with hidden air vents throughout, ensuring that form and function are balanced, providing MJ with the performance he needed during his last game.

Now, the retro-ed models come in 2 colourways finished in luxe suede, namely ‘Campfire Orange’ and ‘Yellow Ochre,’ engineered exactly to its original specifications, so balling is not taken out of the equation. The Air Jordan 18 Retro ‘Campfire Orange’ and ‘Yellow Ochre’ will release on Saturday, September 15 at 9AM for around RM730 for a pair at Nike.
