We usually get the ‘What The?’ models late into the model’s timeline, usually by the end of the product cycle to commemorate all the previous colourways and patterns into a single pair. This round however, Nike has done a complete 180 on its model line, by introducing the ‘What The?’ model first in pre heat.

Let’s talk about the model first, the Lebron 16. A hard step-up from the15, which is by miles Lebron’s best looking shoe, the 16 follows the same design silhouette with several key changes. Strength is the focal point, and Nike has updated the shoe with Battleknit 2.0, their most durable and lightest knit pattern today, with symmetric patterns adorning the upper. Air/Zoom combo is brought over from the 15, and a leather heel counter and tab completes it.

Nothing about the shoe matches. Two types of multicolours don the knits on both sides of the pair, while the outsole is finished with a wild camo multicolour and gradient patterns. Laces too have alternate colours in blue and red, while the heel tabs are finished in white and black; white featuring the edition number, and black featuring a lion’s head with embroidered gold eyes. Hard stuff.

The ‘What The?’ Lebron 16s will be dropping on October 4 on Nike.com for RM 815. All hail the king.
