Martine Rose collaborated with Nike to introduce its own spin on the Air Monarch IV. London-based menswear designer Martine Rose revamped the ever classic dad shoe by making it chunkier than it is before, or melted. Depending on how you look at it.
The sneaker comes in three different colourways, OG White Metallic Silver, Black on Black patent leather and Rose Pink. The collaboration expresses her unconventional approach in portraying her personal style, hence the idea of making it chunkier than it is already is very relevant to her. The approach was to create deformed and distorted version of the Monarch silhouette, yet still maintains all the original detailing. This is done however, by fitting a size 18 upper onto a size 9 sole unit.
The sneaker features a synthetic leather upper, with a silver Nike swoosh on the side, with the addition of the Martine Rose logos printed above the Swoosh branding.
Rumoured to be priced at $250 USD (approx RM1000), the Martine Rose’s X Nike Air Monarch IV is set to release on nike.com January 12. We’re not meant the understand fashion sometimes.
