Regardless of whether you loved it or hated it, Space Jam was a phenomenon when it was released back in 1996, combining the characters of Looney Tunes to the star power of Michael Jordan in possible one of the most ambitious crossovers ever in order to defeat a bunch of alien basketballers. The execution was horrible to say the least, but we were starstruck at the possibility of merging reality and cartoon in one movie, resulting in a cultural icon that has had a lasting impact even until today.
Now though, the torch has been passed on to Lebron James, and before the release of the long awaited sequel, Nike has decided to pay homage to the original by imbuing the colours of the Tune Squad jersey onto the Lebron 17 Low. The colours of the laces alternate in a medley of red, white, and blue, resulting in a clean looking colourway that doesn’t look out of place on the court or on the street. The silhouette is finished with a furry grey Swoosh, taking inspiration from the main character himself, Bugs Bunny.
The Lebron 17 Low “Tune Squad” releases on 29th February for a price of RM 649 on Nike.com. Will you cop?
