When Nike announces any sneaker release in Wheat colorway, we may raise our expectations. Nike Skateboarding (Nike SB) is releasing a pair of Nike SB Dunk Mid to pay tribute to one of Nike SB’s Australian skater, the late Lewis Marnell, who once owned the Melbourne skate scene. Lewis passed away in 2013 due to complications from diabetes and the Swoosh is paying homage by releasing a pair of SB’s in his name as the Wheat colorway was his favourite Dunks to skate in.

“Lewis skated Dunks all the time. He made them look so fresh, that we all wanted to own them so we could look the same,” said the reminiscing Shane O’Neill.

The pair features various details from ostrich-skin around the ankle area, a lion graphic on the heel area to commemorate Lewis’s signature graphic, a ‘Lewis Forever’ label behind the tongues, and a set of extra laces which are rasta-inspired. Nike also made a donation to a non-profit foundation for the benefit of diabetes research to honor Lewis and his contributions to the skate community including the Nike SB family.

The Nike SB Dunk Mid ‘Lewis Marnell’ will be available on Nike for RM439 this coming 18th of January.
