You’re Never Too Old For Disney
Fresh after hosting House Of Vans, Vans is back with another bomber, this time calling upon Disney for another massive collection. Remember the Marvel X Vans? It’s about that scale. Let’s go down into the details.
Each silhouette hosts a specific design along with its associated story. For example, to commemorate Mickey Mouse’s film debut in 1928, iconic scenes from the silent film ‘Plane Crazy’ were captured under a patent material in each quarter panel of the Sk8-Hi. a 3D emblem on the heels finishes the look.
One other Mickey persona we’re very familiar with is the “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” Mickey in the 1940 animated film, Fantasia. The Sk8-Hi silhouette is again used, this time taking inspiration from the Sorcerer’s hat. Velvet quarter panels are adorned with celestial moon and star embroidery, which is complemented with blue suede panels and contrasting yellow stitching. The sole is coloured black, while the laces have printed stars on them. The whole look is completed with the Sorcerer’s Apprentice emblem on the heel.
For the kids, or just a simple throwback for the older millennials, the Old Skool gets done up in commemoration of Mickey Mouse Club, featuring a red Sidestripe and club logo sewn on the tongue. Added details include custom chain stitched embroidery on the back of each heel.
An 80s rendition has also been in the works, featuring multi-colour pastel blocking in pink, yellow and green, topped off with era appropriate Mickey Mouse print and the iconic Checkerboard pattern.
One of the better looking ones has to be this Checkerboarded Slip-On, featuring Mickey and Minnie in a grease monkey makeover, complete with flames in the background and Mickey and Minnie on both toeboxes.
Or if you wanna go classic all the way, the Authentic serves up a pair that’s been updated with the Mouse’s trademark colours including a yellow midsole complimented with red and black uppers and yellow buttons along the heels. Lastly, the Old Skool gets a classic do over showcasing Mickey Mouse’s white gloves holding the medial side of the shoe, of which both sides of a pair contain 2 hidden Mickeys on the tongues.
Cheeky with plenty of Easter Eggs. We like it.
The Vans X Disney collaboration will drop in retail stores nationwide on the 4th of October. We speculate the pricing for the shoes to follow its GR counterparts, so it shouldn’t break the bank. Will you be copping for Sneakerlah?
