wall of death
An event that happens at heavy metal gigs. Basicall before a particully heavy song (or even during a song before a heavy part) the croud will be split up:
1. either into a big circle with nobody in the centre
2. or into two colums with an approximately 10 metre gap in the middle

Being a newcomer to the metalcore scene, the opportunity to witness the talent of inspirational people as well as experienced firsthand, the energy of the crowd during the concert came along with the loud expressive music. The vibe is like none other.

There have been news of people being trampled on and some ended up fatal during such concerts. As soon as the band started playing, the crowd crammed towards the front of the stage. Halfway through the first number, a fan is lifted onto the crowd.

Soon after the “Wall of Death” occurred. The crowd then proceeded to create a huge space in the centre and a number of concertgoers started moshing. A few were skeptical of moshing but joined in the fun anyways. There were some got kicked or punched but they seemed to be absolutely fine with it.

When someone fell, there was someone who will pick him/her up. The crowd made sure that he/she is not injured. As shocked as it was to see someone fall and possibly get trampled, it was also pleasantly surprising that there were people who were ready to pick that person back up and made sure that that person was okay.

Thank you for showing that there’s more than meets the eye.

Here’s to you, people of the moshpits. ☺

Cheers!
