Dato’ Maw is a local aspiring rapper, based in Penang who makes Malaysian hip-hop music that is inspired by our local cultures, languages, and sounds. CASE EAST went on an impromptu night out with him at the heritage area of Penang and conversated about the local hip-hop scene and the frustrations leading up to trying to find an audience base in Malaysia. He shows them around while sharing his motivations and aspirations, and also why did he embark on this music/hip-hop journey.
