Mohd “Bobo” Irfan of AzureForJanne tests out NEAT’s “Firme Hold” Pomade
We have been saying this for the past 2 years now, and we think we will still be saying it for many more months to come, and that is there’s been a crazy influx of local made products, especially in the street fashion and lifestyle sector. Every month we see new brands, new cafes, and new restaurants popping up. Exciting times we live in. One of the latest products to join the #LOKALAH trend would be pomades. Pomade? Seriously? Yes, very serious ma man. We do not know specifically why most men shift from hair wax, gel, or whatever hair products there is (NOTE: the writer of this article is bald. And have been bald for the past decade), to pomade, but we think that Wak Doyok might have something to do with it.
So you might be asking, how does a bald headed guy review hair products when he himself does not have hair? Well the answer is simple, get someone else to do it. So we got the help of Mohd “Bobo” Irfan, guitarist of post-hardcore band Azure For Janne to do the reviewing. We got a bottle of NEAT Pomade, one of the latest locally produced pomade that has been taking over the market by storm, and we asked Bobo to take it for a test drive during his recent performance at Rock The World 14 two weeks back. Here’s what he thinks about NEAT Pomade’s “Firme Hold”:-
Packaging:-
“At first glance, looking at the packaging alone, NEAT Pomade is….. very neat (HAHAHA!) looking. The packaging of the pomade is very proper compared to other local pomades. If you did not tell me that it was locally produced, I would think that it was an overseas brand. They have also taken the time to include details such as the ingredients, information about the brand, and even the expiration date.”
On the pomade itself:-
“The texture is soft, which is a very important factor for pomade, because it is easy to spread out. So much so that I only need 2 finger dips to cover my whole head. It is very easy to shape too. With only a few strokes of the comb the hair follows obediently. And the best part it hardens really fast, so you don’t have to wait for about 5-10 minutes like most pomade I have used before. Even after my performance and my hair was a mess, it is easy to re-comb it back to the original position, and the holding power is still there. Also, because it is water base, it is easy to wash off from your hands. The apple scent is really a bonus. It smells good, but not overwhelming. So far a few ladies have told me that my hair smells nice. So big props to NEAT for nailing this one right!”
Downside:-
“The only downside about the pomade is that it comes in 3.5oz. If you use it on the daily, it will feel as though it finishes really fast. So maybe NEAT can make them in a bigger bottle. And the pricing is about the same as other imported pomades, but I feel the quality is the same, so I think it is still worth to buy. Why not support local right? #LOKALAH!”
Overall:-
“This is among one of the best pomades if have used. 4.5 out of 5 stars for NEAT Pomade.”

LimitEDitions x PUMA Blaze of Glory “All Saints” Pack
To celebrate their 10th Anniversary, Barcelona’s finest sneaker retailer, LimitEDitions has teamed up with PUMA to rework one of the most iconic PUMA silhouettes from the Trinomic family: The Blaze Of Glory. Taking inspiration from Castanyada, a Catalan festival of the dead mainly celebrated on All Saints’ Day, a celebration that is somewhat similar to Halloween. The celebrations is usually accompanied with a meal of chestnuts, panellets, sweet potato and preserved fruits. Using these culinary delights, LimitEDitions has chosen the chestnuts and panellets for the inspiration for their “All Saints” Pack.
The chestnut and panellets Blaze Of Glory feature rich leathers, whilst premium mesh, colour pop lacing systems and a white midsole hint at the shoes performance heritage. Patterned inner lining featuring chestnuts and panellets add detailing whilst referencing the packs inspiration. The PUMA x LimitEDitions Blaze of Glory pack is already available exclusively at Crossover Concept Store.
Nike Air Max 90 Premium “Black Croc” Detailed Look
Also another pair that is bound to turn heads, and make the Air Max heads go crazy, is this pair of Nike Air Max 90 Premium “Black Croc”. Monochrome colourways seem to be taking over the fashion and sneaker culture, and some of the ways to add “colours” to the monochromatic theme is to add in layers of luxe aesthetics to increase the appeal. That is exactly what Nike have done with this pair where they added in some black croc detailing on certain parts of the upper, making the pair look really luxurious. The pair drops today at Sole What and will be going for RM429 per pair.

Nike Flyknit Roshe Run
Two of Nike’s biggest success stories recently is the highly popular Roshe Run model, and the Flyknit technology. So it would be only natural that Nike combine both of them together to produce this superb looking pair of shoe, the Flyknit Roshe Run. The revised edition of the Nike Roshe Run possessed athletic potential with the threaded upper and a Natural Motion sole, but the minimalistic silhouette still looks good as a lifestyle pair. The model comes in three colourways, Grey, Triple Black, and Multi-colour. Available now at Sole What and will be going for RM429 per pop.
