FIRE BY BEATBURNS

Beatburns, a local alternative indie rock band based in Kuala Lumpur, recently released their latest awareness music video called “Fire“. The song is about throwing out the past, burning the bridge of the past because we are all meant to learn from the past. It also talks about letting go of the burden that someone has and just letting things flow and not be so worried about what is going to happen cause no matter what a person goes through they are not alone.

This song is dedicate to those who they love and to those who have gone through so much in their lives to let them know that they did not go through all the pain in vain. To the band, this has been a really emotional song to record and write. We literally shed tears when we completed the song cause of its emotional weight and meaning to us, especially to Lynd.

The story revolves around breaking the bridge of a troubled past. This time around, it revolves around the social issue of domestic violence where it affects 9% of ever-partnered Malaysian women. No one deserves to be abuse, whether it’s physical or emotional. Hence the band decided to raise a social awareness on this issue and they’re glad to have WOA (Women’s Aid Organization) to be part of this too. The video stars Tony Eusoff as the main character’s abusive father and Alicia Amin (ASNTM Cycle 5) as the main character’s girlfriend.

“We hope that the listeners would appreciate the song as much as we did and we hope that this song would touch their hearts and make them appreciate everyone in their lives more and learn to bury the hatchet of their past in order to move forward and live a positive life”. said Lynd

CELEBRATING 45 YEARS OF NIKE CORTEZ IN SPORT, STYLE AND CULTURE

Released in 1972, The Nike Cortez has put many things: a shining example of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman’s drive to better equipment for runners, the first Nike to offer visible technology and an endearing pop culture icon. Over the years the shoe has propelled champion runners, graced silver screens (in a 1994 best picture winner, no less) as well as televisions and become a staple of west coast hip-hop street style.

The first true women’s version of the shoe was called “Senorita Cortez” hits the market two years later in 1974. The aesthetic and performance retained the hallmarks of the original, and throughout the ’70s enjoyed status as Nike’s best-selling shoe. In 1977, Nike Cortez hit living rooms across the United States via the small screen, helping to solidify icon status among womens across the U.S. and beyond.

The Cortez has mixed well with high and low fashion and blended with diverse trends. As evidence, and in celebration of the Cortez’s 45th anniversary, as Andrea Lieberman, Aleali May, and Madeline Poole share their take on the icon. For more news about the Nike Cortez history and so on can be found here.

The new Nike Cortez will be launched on 30th May 2017 at a retail price of RM229 and will be available at Nike KLCC and Nike Pavilion.

AJ11 Low “Barons” Drops This Weekend

On October 6, 1993, Michael Jordan announced his first retirement, citing a loss of desire to play the game. This was at the time when the Chicago Bulls have won 3 NBA Championships back-to-back, the murder of his father due to a robbery, and having some gambling problems. MJ quit the NBA and signed a deal with the Chicago White Sox minor league affiliated “Birmingham Barons”.

Unlike the past Barons inspired pairs, this current one does not spot any pinstripes, while the black upper is made our of a sturdy nubuck upper instead of the past Cordura mesh. Similar like the AJ11 “72-10”, this pair also dons an iridescent-like sheen on the mudguard and an added metallic silver for a finishing touch.

The AJ11 Low “Barons” will be on sale this Saturday (27/5/17) on Nike.com and at selected retailers in Malaysia.

AGAINST LAB. Introduces ‘THIS MIGHT BE PARADISE’ Collection

Creative outfit Against Lab release yet another collection for this year titled ‘This Might Be Paradise”. The inspiration behind the collection is an exploration of what paradise might mean to someone. To some people, it is about the beach, sun, sea, and pretty flowers, but to some, it could be death. The team in Against Lab explores both ends of this view by having the flowery graphics on most the clothes, while the lookbook expresses the other end of the view, which is death.

The 9 piece collection features artwork from graphic designer Muntasir Mohamed and will officially be dropping on the 25th May online on their website HERE, and physically dropping at the Against Lab pop-up shop at Hundred% store in Lot10.
