Last Sunday, we took a short trip from the busy KL city to the leisure spot – Port Dickson at Negeri Sembilan for the most recent Tempatan Fest PD. It might not be as packed as the previous Tempatan Fest, but there’s definitely another different kind of vibe in PD. Check out some of the photos we took from the event below.

Dirgahayu is a post-rock band with an all-star line up that consist of previous members of other post-rocks bands namely Akta-Angkasa, Custom Daisy and Silent Scenery. Here in this video, the band was recorded by Khairul Johari using only one camera and one lens, at the recent Cross Border Showcase which happened at Hin Bus Depot in Georgetown, Penang. Our #IOTD (Instagrammer of the Day) is Muhammad Alif Saufwan. This 27-year-old food enthusiast hails from Puchong.
“Photography is my passion,” says the Petaling Jaya primary school teacher who does wedding photography as his part time job. He enjoys food as well as photographing it. Self-proclaimed newbie to the food photography collective, he expresses his joy in exploring the possibilities.
“Wedding photography and food photography are totally different for me,” he mentions. “Each field of photography has its own challenges. For wedding photography, I need to capture moments during the event; the bride, the groom, the atmosphere, etc. For food photography on the other hand, details of the food as well as the styling to make it ‘art of food’; colour, composition and accessories enhances the food, produces a better photograph,” he adds.
For Alif, food photography is a very interesting field. He sometimes require trying new recipes and learning more about food styling. All these attributes allows him to learn and love photography more.

Singer-song writer Nick Davis, the former front-man of disbanded rock band Rosevelt, has just released a new single called “Liminality” which features Shelheil, a Chinese rapper from Sungai Petani. The song is about how Nick was in a liminal stage of his life, and how after 2 years of rough uncertainties, manage to find himself again. Check it out below.

23-year-old Zakwan Anuar is one of the youngest local talents in the fashion industry. In a highly competitive industry such as the fashion industry, making a name for ones self is a daunting task, but in slightly over 3 years, the former law student has not only manage to make a name for himself, he has also manage to make a mark in the industry.
This time round, his collection Lebaran 2014, consists of both womenswear as well as menswear . Using contrasting fabrics like poly rayon, polyester, cotton and spandex, he created a bold and minimal look for the modern market. This collection consists of checks, silver stripes, silky silhouettes and classic black pieces. Zakwan reveals in his Facebook page “about” section that he is a “Malaysian fashion designer who believes less is more” and it is very apparent in his latest collection.

Our favourite Instagrammer of the day is Shafiq Anaksaleh. Originally from Negeri Sembilan, he is a final year student of engineering in a local university now staying in Johor Bahru.
“I have no basic knowledge about photography and just learnt it by myself by looking at some magazine and other inspiring Instagram accounts,” says Shafiq.
He feels that his interest in photography came about because of Instagram. He picked up styles of compositions, tones as well as quality photographs through other Instagrammers. He enjoys meeting up with fellow Instagrammers in real life which makes Instagramming more fun.
“For me, picture tells a better story then words alone, so I present myself and my life through photographs and share it to the world through Instagram,” he adds.

Here’s another new pair from the Jordan Brand – the Air Jordan 5Lab3 Black. This is something we don’t usually expect from the Jordan brand, blending the styles of black 3M on the classic silhouette is just simply hard to resist. Definitely one of those ‘must cop’ pairs.
Using the same 3M formula as the previous 5Lab3’s releases, and a little twist from silver to black, the shoe features the subtle yet classic elephant print around the toe together with debossed Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel. This month is turning out to be a really heavy month on sneakerheads. Heavy because there are so many major drops this month, and one of the pairs to join that major line-up is the Nike Air Trainer 1 Mid Premium Quickstrike “Paid In Full”.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 is usually an under-rated classic silhouette which is a silhouette that doesn’t catch your attention immediately, but one that grows on you. The upper of the shoe is covered mostly in black leather, and features dollar bill details throughout, along with matching embroidery details on the Velcro strap and the footbed. Extra detailing of the shoe is an extra set of lace that features the dollar bill graphics and an icy outer sole that finishes off the look nicely.
The shoe is now available at selected Nike retailers like Sole What and will be retailing at RM360.
Here’s another pair from the Nike’s City Pack, London edition – Nike Air Max 1 Breathe! The shoe features a streamlined and seamless upper with the famous breathable mesh and taped construction that confers a nicely contemporary look to the old classic silhouette. It also features a very good colour combination of “Geyser Grey”, “Black”, “Challenge Red”.
One of the shoes’ details is the London England graphic stamp at the lightly padded tongue. Deconstructing iconic silhouettes and transforming classic sneakers into ultra-breathable, lightweight shoes, the collection has been stripped to its core essentials — layers of reinforcement have been removed and heavy materials done away with. Spacer mesh is used to create pockets of space between the upper materials to allow for increased airflow.”
