The first female to be featured in our Marksmen series, appropriately we’ll be naming this series the MarksWomen Series in honour of Syuhaida Zain. Based from Kuala Lumpur, @syuhaidazain started taking photographs of her journey and took her photography hobby more seriously. Her truly unique landscapes of natural scenes embody her signature style. Syuhaida’s intuitive artistic detail of the world’s overwhelming beauty of nature, wildlife, landscape, and street photographs are the core of her work.

 

 

“I’ve started taking photos in 2013 with my iPhone. I used Instagram as my platform to showcase my work. It started as a hobby, I’ve always love to take photos. I loved how a photograph can be absolutely convey a story telling in an awe-inspiring way without words. After being featured as a suggested user on Instagram, I got noticed by many Instagramers and brands. Since that I bought my first camera and start shooting almost everything. “

 

 

“I shoot everything. I don’t have specific style in photography. From brands to architecture, cityscapes to nature, I constantly focus on improving my photography skills and trying out creative different styles to deliver great photos. My drive to improve my photography came from inspirations on Instagram. I’m self taught and never took lessons. I learn best by focusing on my favourite photographers. With every your work becomes more purposeful. With photography, there’s no limitation to learning.”

Creativity and Imagination – A creative mind and plenty of imagination to be able to look and think out of box. These are the best guides for stellar compositions.

An Eye for Detail – To ensure that all elements within the photo such as lighting, composition, storytelling and emotion.

Patience and Flexibility – Patience is always an essential quality to have. Need to be patient enough to deal with everything. You need to be patient enough to wait for the perfect lighting or perfect moment and so on.

Passion- Passion makes the photographer. When you’re passionate about what you do, it will always make you work a little harder, push a little farther, and strive to be better than you were the day before.“

Pestle & Mortar Clothing First Ever International Collaboration With The Hundreds

Local Malaysian streetwear label Pestle & Mortar Clothing dropped the year long process collaboration with The Hundreds, famed Los Angeles based streetwear label. The capsule collection launched at Sneakerlah last weekend. Pestle & Mortar Clothing’s booth at Sneakerlah took the concept of a typical Malaysian hawker stall. As part of the collaboration, TH X PMC released two T-shirt designs, a coaches jacket and a dad hat. 2 items had  already sold out on the first day of the launch at Sneakerlah!

Both shirts and jacket feature the same design translated across different styles – a black t-shirt, a light pink t-shirt and a black, hooded, button up coaches jacket. The collection is consistent on a design element – a prominent Hibiscus flower, the national flower of Malaysia. Pestle & Mortar Clothing has always infuse local Malaysian/Southeast Asian elements into each design as a little homage to our homeland which play an important role in putting Malaysia on the map.

Dirgahayu To Perform At SXSW Music Festival 2018!

Malaysia is back again for the fourth time to head to  the iconic global music industry SXSW Music Festival, after Zee Avi, Altimet and Yuna.  Dirgahayu will be going to Austin, Texas for SXSW Music Festival. The 2017 edition, you can expect to find various of music styles by establishes artists from 63 countries around the globe along side 2,000-plus official performers. Dirgahayu, a  trio Math Rock band who are popular for their instrumental music arrangement of music which garnered compelling positive feedback from all over the region. The band first came to prominence with the release of their single “Bahawasa-nya” – a 4-minutes of organised chaos, robust guitar attack and exuberant drumming punctuated by intense, abrupt transitions.  

Recently they’ve performed at House of Vans 2017 and Rocktoberfest Borneo 2017. Since 2015, they’ve extensively toured to Asian countries such as Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines. The band have also announced their touring several places in the U.S, tour dates details will be announced soon.

5 months away till the US gets a taste of Malaysia happening March 12 to 18, 2018.
