TOKYO: Shochiku Kabuki x Uniqlo

Last month, our friends from GUMBALL MAG was sent over to Japan for the launch of Shochiku Kabuki x Uniqlo. The UT range is inspired by Kabuki, which is a traditional Japanese form of theatre with roots tracing back to the Edo Period. The collection features a range of T-Shirts for both men and women, scarves and lounge pants from the Stetco and Relaco lines.

Nike Air Max 90 “Cork”

The Nike Air Max 90 celebrate their 25th Anniversary by releasing this special ” Infrared Cork” edition. This shoe featured a full  premium Cork based body, include with Infrared accents, with black detailing throughout the shoe and finished off with an iconic black Nike Swoosh. It also features a visible Air cushioning unit at the heel and is finished with a black and crimson outsole.This shoe is now available at Sole What (Gardens) with a retail price of RM599. Sizes ranges from Women’s US5.5 – US8.5. As for the Men’s edition? We will keep you updated. So stay tuned!

Turn on the radio and it will come as no surprise to hear mainstream rappers busting rhymes on money, power and not to forget the ladies. NtahSape2Ntah is here to change that, they have released a music video for their single called “Kerja” which sums up the struggles workers face within their daily 9 to 5 regime. It reverts us back to our roots, the beginning of our careers and the obstacles we have to face in order to reach for our dreams and goals. But it also reminds us to stay humble, even if we have reached our destinations in life. Perhaps this could be an anthem to all of you unsung heroes out there not getting enough credit from your superiors, don’t worry, it gets better! Watch the music video below.

A Malaysian singer songwriter, Bil Musa has just released her first music video for The Beach, off her self-titled debut EP. Nabila Musa dived into music when she was only 7, started playing the piano and went on to write her own songs at the age of 16. This Game of Thrones’ freak is now the first artist to signed under Yuna Room Records after the lady herself.! Buku Fixi Launches Its First Bookstore

Buku Fixi, Malaysia’s indie publishing house will be launching its first ever book store tomorrow (April 11) at Level 4 Jaya Shopping Centre, Section 14 Petaling Jaya. Established in 2011, all of their books were sold through online and also distributed to Kinokuniya, Borders, MPH and a few indie local book stores prior to opening a store. The launching will be at 3PM so this is your chance to meet the authors; Ridwan Saidi (Brazil), Mim Jamil (Lari), Anuar Shah (Pentas), in person! Not to forget, they also will be giving free sorbets to the first 30 buyers during the launch! You can find more information here.

Froya Documentary by Guinness Amplify

It always sparks an interest within us whenever we encounter people who are passionate in what they do, may it be from the range of fashion to music. Froya – the musical brainchild of Michelle Lee entered our local indie music scene gracefully back in late 2011 with her unique style blending genres like folk and electronica. Guinness Amplify has taken this opportunity to create a documentary about Froya’s journey in carving its own path musically. Below is a little introduction of the documentary, directed and shot by Patrick Chua. Music by Froya titled “The Map”.

Froya will also be launching its first album – “Panic Bird” on April 11th 2015, 8PM at The Bee @ Publika. The event will also be joined by other local acts and it’s free entry!

Pitahati – Burung Dalam Kaca (Official Music Video)

Malaysian rock band, Pitahati has just released their new music video for “Burung Dalam Kaca”, off their 2014’s release, “Fonetik Anak Candal”. The music video was directed by Idril Mihat and generally, it sums up what happened in their previous tour; Merapah Fonetik Tanah Semenanjung 2014. Pitahati is known by their psychedelic rock performance together with a nice ambient touch on the visuals and lightings during their live shows. The band is now currently under Luncai Emas Sdn. Swims & Mashrabiya: A Split Release Showcase

Chronic Crony Collective presents Swims & Mashrabiya: A Split Release Showcase, happening this 11th of April 2015 at a new space in Shah Alam called RUANG. Mashrabiya is a band formed in early 2014 with members from various bands like Hello, Is This The Band, Creamson, Reset To Zilch, and Sforzando! Swims in another story is a band formed in 2013 which describe themselves as loud and intense. Fusing around aggressive guitar parts and the creative use of effects, the band always in pursuit of new sounds despite the heavy influence in hardcore and shoegaze music. Other acts that will be joining Swims and Mashrabiya are Mutesite, Enterprise, Decades, and the legendary Man Under Zero Effort!
