Nike Zoom Speed TR2 “Blue Lagoon / White”

This pair was created with full functionality in mind. A sneaker that focuses fully on providing maximum comfort, wearability, functionality and yet it still looks good enough to be worn out to the malls. The shoe’s silhouette shares a slight resemblance to the Roshe as we think this is the Roshe’s bigger, more muscular, badass younger brother. The sneaker spots a synthetic honeycomb like pattern on the upper that is paired with a ventilated mesh toe box for more breathability. The Blue Lagoon upper is paired with the trademark white swoosh and a clean white midsole while the outsole at the bottom spots a ribbed textured pattern that allows flexibility when making multi directional movements.

The pair is already available at most Nike outlets and retailers and is going for RM309 per pair.

While we wait for the follow-up to Mitos, Adam Kasturi has something in store for us with the release of a brand new track, Satron through his SoundCloud profile. With Satron, Adam brings back his unqiue style with this near five-minutes that breaths heavily of post-grime music influences. We think this track is dope, take a listen to Satron and hear for yourself.

Mutha Puaka x Macbeth Reed Shoe

A local brand that is very much rooted in the motorcycling scene, Mutha Puaka teams up with Macbeth Footwear for this special collaboration. The collab features the Reed silhouette as the base, with added Mutha Puaka touches like super hard “MP” guitar picks on the tongue, “MP” brass lace locks done by No Place Custom Metal, and lastly the MP motto patches which read “NEVER BULLY THE WEAK / NEVER FEAR THE STRONG” can be found on both sides of the shoe.

No word on exactly how many pairs of this collab will be made, but from what we’ve been told it is in very limited quantities. This is good milestone for our local scene as this is the first time that Macbeth is collaborating with a local Malaysian brand, and with that said, we are pretty sure the pairs will be sold out. So be sure to drop by early on Friday 13th, 8pm onwards at Publika. Price at RM350 per pair. Follow Mutha Puaka ( @muthapuaka ) and Macbeth Footwear Malaysia ( @macbethmalaysia ) on Instagram for more updates.

The Imitation Game by Jaemy Choong

Instagram is filled with a bunch of different artist that fills their feed with plenty inspiring and creative piece. But no one else does it like Jaemy. By day he runs a graphic lab called Kickatomic but in his spare time he shares his comical interpretation of famous movie posters with help from a few of his friends. Taking note of his knack for humour we decided to have a little chat about his work.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Jaemy Choong and i run a start-up graphic agency called Kickatomic and we specialise in TV show branding and Opening Sequence Design. (it’s those 10 – 20 sec opening themes that play before the show actually starts.) I run it with a business partner named Tsu Ann and I handle the creatives while she handles the PR and communication. Also, I stay home a lot and i like fried chicken.

Describe the photographs that you share on instagram?

They are a combination of my love for film + my love for lameness. (If that makes any sense). Ask any of my close friends and they will tell you how much my jokes are surrounded by some of the cheesiest lines and imagery. I basically take postcard-sized movie posters and “finish” the art piece by having friends pose behind it to “complete the picture”. When the poster design is aligned with my model’s pose behind it, it turns into a rather laughable piece.

what is it about?

It’s about poking fun at the typical shapes and designs that most movie posters can’t seem to avoid. Plus the fact that we will never be able to be Hollywood stars so we might as well make the best of what we can be – instagram stars haha. Or alternate movie poster stars i guess.

what’s the inspiration behind it?

No exact inspiration really. It was random. A few friends and I had just returned from the premiere of Maleficent and if you know the poster you’ll notice how easy it is to stand behind it and kinda “become” the horned Angelina Jolie in the pic. So a bunch of us were just like “Hey let’s do a shot like that!” and went ahead and did a shot (you can see it on one of my old posts on instagram). The shot came out and we realised how absolutely hilarious it looked… so we did more! We did so many more that i think friends are now starting to avoid me for bugging them so much. (New shots every 2 days haha) Some of the poses were really hard to hold in place and you don’t see it on the pictures but we would all be sweating buckets trying to get the shot. I really have to thank the very obliging friends for “layaning” my crazyness.

why do you do it?

For the pure enjoyment of it. Call it stupidity, call it an escape, call it a quick jab at pop culture – it’s all for fun. I was featured on a number of viral sites last year (Bored Panda, MTV.com, Viral Nova etc… I managed to compile them here: http://about.me/jaemychoong) so I guess people actually do enjoy the pictures too. When they tell me how funny or weird the pictures look, I like to laugh along with them.
