Originally released in 1999, this pair is part of the bunch of retros that will be revamped by the Jordan Brand, which will be labelled as “Remastered”. This release is looking just as similar as the original version, but this time sporting a premium tumbled leather upper that is accompanied by Tech Grey accents, and of course the black cookies and cream speckles on the midsole and the plastic eyelets which gave the shoe the nickname “Oreo”. The pair dropped at Hoops Station last week, but be on the look out for it as a few other stores will be releasing them within this week.

Orang Malaya releases “I Luv Ya”

Orang Malaya is a hot commodity these days. After appearing on the HOAX Loves U mixtape, he’s got a fresh one out right now. A single called “I Luv Ya” has just been released onto his SoundCloud. Smothering us with his smooth soulful voice and a melody you just can’t deny. We expect big things from Orang Malaya in 2015, until then, lets keep this track on loop.

Naufal and I-Sky drops “Up To Here”

Fresh off their participation in the HOAX Loves U mixtape, Naufal and I-Sky are at it again, dropping a brand new track onto the Interweb. “Up To Here” samples Fergie’s 2006 hit “Glamorous” layered over the acts signature sound. The flanging production on this one smoothly compliments Fergie’s killer hook. The hook is repetitive in a sense but there is no way you can not rock your head out to this one the second the first beat comes on. Hit play and check out exactly what we are talking about!

Darren Ashley’s Surrender

Get your weekly dose of Monday Juice with the release of Darren Ashley’s latest offering, “Surrender”. The production on this synthy track benefits from the help of Darren’s friends, Jupiter 7 and Anthony Tony Parker of JUNY. Topped with Darren’s soulful vocals, “Surrender” is another homerun for this Malaysian artist. While we wait for Monday to come again, keep this repeating for the rest of the week. Or better yet loop the entire compilation on your playlist!

MASSESzine no. 4 : The FEMALE Issue

Welcome to the 4th issue of the MASSESzine, where the theme this time around is all about the ladies. Yes you saw that right. It’s the FEMALE ISSUE! Since most of our readers are usually guys, we thought we should shine the light on some amazing ladies in our local scene for you guys to get to know, go gaga over, drool over, or be inspired by them regardless of your gender.

We caught up with the fast moving, ever hustling, and yet down-to-earth Hunny Madu to pick her brain on what being a modern woman is all about. We also hung out with our sneaker scene’s very own bae, the small petite sized Wonkalucca, or more endearingly known as “Kak Linie” by her close friends to check out her collection of sneakers which is, unlike her size, pretty big. Our personal favorite part about working on this issue is the food section where we visited 3 different mothers, and got them to cook their signature dish for us so that we can share it with the rest of you. Sorry we couldn’t share the food itself because we ate it all. #baek. We also sat down with Rubbabend, a female rapper from our Indian rap scene to give us an idea of her scene, and how it is like to be a female in a male dominated industry.

You can’t deny the facts, and that is majority of our street culture here in Malaysia, be it sneakers, local streetwear fashion, the rap game, skateboarding, the underground rock scene etc., it is pretty much a sausage fest. And that is why we want to highlight these individuals that are radically pushing back  gender stereotypes, changing our views on what a woman should be, and inspiring other ladies to join in on the fun and by doing so inspire more ladies to join in the fun.

We hope you have as much fun reading this issue as much as we had making it.
