Is The Seluar Mambang Real?

Besides being our personal highlight for the year 2013, and besides making the word #HAVOC one of the most popular hashtagged word in Malaysia, it looks like Joe Flizzow has also made something else a trend, the “Seluar Mambang”!

“Tak naik collar, kita tak pakai beg sandang. Lu pakai seluar jeans? Gua pakai seluar mambang”

From the Bahasa Malaysia Wikipedia, we are told that Mambang is a type of Spirit / Ghost / Entity / Genie. And judging from the lyrics above we guess Joe was doing a play of words between Jeans = Jin and hence the word mambang was used. Probably the nearest English word for Seluar Mambang would be Genie Pants. And now there is a brand called “Seluar Mambang” selling seluar mambangs!

So to answer the question whether or not the Seluar Mambang really does exist? YES! Don’t believe us? Check out their Facebook page and Instagram ( @seluarmambang ) to see for yourself.

What do you guys think of the Seluar Mambang trend? Yay or Nay?

T.U.K Footwear in Malaysia

T.U.K Footwear was born in England, and in year 1991 the brand moved their base to San Diego, California. Since then the company has been taking over the world one sole at a time with their bold and loud shoe designs. The brand is very much rooted in the punk, edgy, goth street look and feel.

We had the pleasure of visiting T.U.K Footwear’s tradeshow which happened at Acme Bar & Coffee yesterday to check out the collection that will be hitting our Malaysian shores real soon. Check out the pics of our visit yesterday and also follow T.U.K Footwear on Instagram ( @tuk_footwearmy ) and add them up on Facebook to stay up to date with whats happening with them.

Reach For The Skies – Within Mysticeti

Reach For The Skies or RFTS for short, is a band that plays rock. The reason for such a general description of their genre is because they have too many types of rock jumbled into one song, and also the fact the members of the band don’t really like to classify the music they play because they play whatever they feel like playing. So the best way would be to just classify their genre as rock. Although they’ve only been around for a little under a year, they have been making waves in the music due to their experimental form of music.

Their latest single “Within Mysticeti” basically speaks about how many of us go about our daily life searching for a meaning in life but while doing so, get distracted by the things that are meaningless. Walking down roads in life that lead nowhere. The word ‘Mysticeti’ from the song title, is a name for a type of whale. The symbolism behind the concept of the song is taken from the story of Jonah from the Bible, where by Jonah was ordered by God to go the town of Nineveh but instead he fled, which landed him in the stomach of a whale.

Ini mesej untuk setiap agent booking yang masih tak kenal aku siapa lagi. Mungkin lain macam aku MC, bila aku MC, MC lain MC. Nike SB Project BA – Black / Metallic Silver Detailed Look

IMG_1448 copy

Inspired by performance running / trainer shoes, the Project BA is a skate shoe that doesn’t look or feel like one. And we mean that in a good way. Here in this model, Nike has kept the design on this pair to a simple and minimalistic look, which we really dig. The pair features an all-black upper that is coupled with a metallic silver Swoosh. The upper uses a mix of materials ranging from premium suede, for enhanced durability, to perforations that help maintain airflow in the shoe. On the outsole, engineered herringbone tread pattern plus with the gum-sole material, provides unparalleled grip multi-directional flexibility. Also in an all-black look, the full-length Lunarlon delivers lightweight cushioning which guarantees comfort whether you are launching off obstacles with your board or just taking a walk in the mall.

The pair is already available at all HEAVY WEIGHT outlets and at SHOWROOM too.

#WOYD – Yung Shen of The Swagger Salon

What's-On-Your-Desk

A desk is somewhat a very integral and important piece of furniture for a lot of us. It is a place where we get most of our work done, a place where we “Cari Makan”, a place where we study, a place where you surf the net, and for some of you who are workaholics, a place where you sleep. #WOYD basically stands for “What’s On Your Desk” which is a new feature we thought would be cool to have on our site where we feature desks of certain individuals in our scene and what are the usual items that is necessary for them.

First up we have Yung Shen ( @shenthetaikor ) of The Swagger Salon to share with us what is on his desk. He even took the time to not only list out the items he has on his desk, but to tell us WHY he has it. Check it!

Mercury. Co – ‘Late 2013′ Collection Delivery 2

Seeing that in Malaysia, we do not have any form of seasons here, some local brands usually go by quarterly releases, or even monthly. ‘Mercury. Co’ on the other hand is a brand that releases their stuff whenever they want to and calls it whatever they like. Which we think is a pretty cool thing to do. The drop for the collection was on the 25th of December 2013, and although we are well into the 2nd month of 2014, they just launched their delivery 2 not too long ago, hence the name of the collection.

This delivery consist of 3 t-shirts, a raglan tee and a beanie. Follow them on Instagram ( @mercurycompany ) and add them up on their Facebook page for more updates.

Native Instructions – Hood Vibes Q1 2014 Lookbook|2nd Batch

In their second batch for the “Hood Vibes” Collection, Native Instructions offers us a white version of the collection. Here we see the “RAPE” tee in a white colorway while accompanied by the “Mischief Union” tee and the “Hate Blooms” tee. Although each title of the t-shirt sounds pretty dark and bad, but the meaning behind every tee is a good one. For instance, the “Hate Bloom” tee is talking about how we set up filters and develop certain prejudice towards things that we do not understand. We judge before we understand. In that way, we leave no room for love to bloom, but hate instead.

For more info on what the rest of the releases mean, add them up on their Facebook page and drop them a message.
