Adidas Takes You Back To 80s Terrace Culture With New SS19 SPZL Drop

Written by Sean Ho

The Adidas Spezial line of shoes has always been very niche focus, and to those who know, really know how to appreciate the term behind the shoe more so than any other consumers. And the new SS19 SPZL collection brings fans back to the UK’s casual culture, a subculture formed from football fans of the 70s and 80s, one that practiced hooliganism and stole expensive designer clothes to wear to football matches.

The Adidas Spezial SS19 features a capsule collection from outerwear to sneakers, with the few key pieces being the Whalley Spezial sneakers and the Norfu Spezial silhouette. Coming in two colourways for the Whalley’s, a blue base with fluorescent three stripe branding, as for the other one it comes in red suede as a base colour with white three stripe branding. Both comes with a gum outsole, retaining the super classic look from the original archives.

Over on the apparel side, Adidas decided to bring back the vintage soccer jersey from the 80s. The Lymwoon Jersey is definitely one of my personal favourites from this drop. It features jacquard material with related Spezial mod motif all over, with a number ‘3’ on the back of the jersey. Another piece which is the hoodie comes in a pestle blue colourway made from heavyweight French Terry, a very premium cotton. The hoodie is finished with a Spezial box logo graphic on the chest.

This collection is set to release on the 8th of March at 10:00AM on adidas.com.my.

Bell & Ross Launches The BR03-92 BI-COMPASS

Written by Sean Ho

Staying true to its identity, Bell & Ross introduces a new watch design drawing inspiration from analog instruments from the aircraft dashboard. each instrument has its specific function in terms of precision, legibility, reliability and performance, and as such, introduces the BR03-92 BI-COMPASS. With this watch, the brand recreates graphic style of these navigation tools as closely as possible, offering an alternative to the traditional approach of telling the time.

The design of the BR03-92 BI-COMPASS is built on two layers, which run on a calibre BR-CAL.302, automatic mechanical movement. The dial divides the center part with the outer part, where the minute track is featured through a small step equipped with a minute circle. To increase accuracy, the hour and minute hands are separated with the minute placed on the main dial while the hour is displayed in the center. A small green triangle indicates the hour mark. All that is being protected with a sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating.

The watch features an obvious Munsell green hue indicating the hours and is covered in a photoluminescent coating (Superluminova®) that contrasts well with the black of the dial. The off- white hands and numerals on the dial unveil the minutes and seconds and echoes the legibility principles of professional aeronautical instruments. This color scheme was very commonly used on instruments, specifically on US Navy aircrafts.

This BR03-92 Bi-Compass can be found at selected retail stores for RM16,000 and is limited to 999 pieces. Worth a cop?

TNTCO Mixes A Bit Of Plaid Into Its ‘First Delivery’ Collection

Written by Sean Ho

Experimentation is the name of the game, and TNTCO have been in the lab trialing new designs and different implementations of plaid fabrics and pocket placements for this collection. For its ‘First Delivery’ Collection, the capsule includes a black bowling shirt, drop shoulder tees, outer pocket trousers, and a bold checkered paneled hoodie.

I think TNTCO executed the collection well in terms of design, it’s is a very unique approach to a hoodie, and it’s easily my favorite piece out of the entire collection. With its price being RM279, I really think it’s a good alternative to high end hoodies as it gives a similar look to your fit.

The entire collection is ready for purchase at tntco.co. Grab them fast as the trousers are already sold out completely!

Sacai’s Highly Rated Nike LDWaffle Is Getting A Local Release

MORE UPDATE 14/05/19: The Sacai X Nike LDWaffle finally gets a release date, on the 23rd of May. Get set, get ready, on Nike.com.

UPDATE: The Sacai X Nike LDWaffle has been indefinitely postponed as listings were taken out of Nike.com. Stay tuned for more updates.

We’ve all seen the pictures. Some of you may have drooled over them and some may have questioned its odd form, but its undeniable that in the long list of collabs, nothing quite like this has never been made before.

Usually, when it came to combining two models into one, the logical way would be to take key highlights and features of both silhouettes to create a new one. But Chitose Abe had a slightly different approach. What he had in mind, was literally combine two silhouettes, overlapping each other, to create a literal hybrid of a silhouette.

The models in question then, were the Nike Waffle Racer and LDV combined with almost double of everything, double swoosh, double tongue, and faux double lacing. There’s plenty to go about in the way of colours, as the LDWaffle (as its otherwise known), utilises a palette reminiscent of the classic runners that Nike used to make.

For the midsole, both designs are combined together to create quite an exaggerated shape, that is uniquely distinct in form than practically anything else on the market. Combined Nike X Sacai branding is present on the heel tab and insole to round up the silhouette.

The Nike X Sacai LDWaffle will release on 7th of March at Nike.com for a price of approximately RM 650. Best gather all your luck for this pair.

Skechers Just Threw Shade At Nike After Its Basketball Shoe Burst Mid-Game

To be honest, nobody would’ve seen this coming, and the jab was definitely not subtle, as Skechers bluntly points out Nike’s mishap with Zion Williamson’s basketball shoes splitting apart during a game against North Carolina, causing him to sprain his knee and subsequently missing the next two games as he recovers.

The brand’s Instagram inspired ad appeared in the New York Times paper, on a half page space just to throw a lil bit of shade to Nike, but the effect remains to be seen, as let’s face it, who would wear Skechers now in this day and age?

Nevertheless, it’s a good conversation sparker, and Nike’s reply is yet to be seen, but we’ll update you if there is any.

Hypebeasts Are Selling Their Grails Because Marie Kondo Told them To

Written by Sean Ho

We’ve had a hilarious turn of events as of late in the streetwear scene and it seems like Maria Kondo is the one to blame. Love her or hate her, she’s making waves, and an article from The Cut says that the listing on Grailed has an increase more than doubled after Kondo’s debuted her Netflix series.

Fashion enthusiast have been cleaning up their wardrobe because of Kondo or their Kondo obsessed girlfriends are making them do it. “Only selling because my girlfriend is Marie Kondo-ing the shit out of my closet,” one user writes. “Barely worn, but wife is making me Marie Kondo it. Great,” another user writes another. Whatever it is, we all need a good closet purge. And Marie Kondo is here to help filter through them all.
