WDHANFTSY: Vans “Comfy Cush” Era

Quite out of no where, Vans introduced a new type of cushioning dubbed the ComfyCush, a new type of cushioning utilising memory foam in the footbed to enhance comfort both for everyday use and skating. Bryan “Botak” Chin claims that it is a bit like Boost, and Julian ‘Sunflower’ Leong seems a bit skeptical, but is it so? Watch the video to find out!

7 Best Brands You Can Buy If You Want A Waist Bag

Written by Sean Ho
Opinion Editorial

I’m not always one to ride the wave of a trend at its peak. I tend to either jump on something immediately or just skip it all together. When the whole waist bag trend started picking up heat throughout all types of styles, I was on the fence. Of course, the waist bag has its roots set down on being utilitarian piece, as it gives the user extra pockets to stuff whatever paraphernalia they carry on the daily, but pulling it off with a semblance of style is a whole different thing altogether. Hence why, I’ve compiled a few pieces to complement your overall aesthetic nicely.

Carhartt

Because I appreciate the quality behind the brand, this would be in my list when copping a waist bag. Carhartt has been making workwear attires for over a century, and with that being said, quality and craftsmanship is no issue. But this level of quality and detail comes at a price, and for RM200.00 and above for a small bag, you may want to consider investing in a slightly bigger one. That being said, once you buy, it’s a definite tanker, and can last you a very long time.

Crossover

If you didn’t know, Crossover does have their own collection of merchandises from t-shirts, hats to accessories, and the waist bag makes up one part of it. It comes in one design but with the option of two colours, blue and black. In terms of making your outfit looking better, this might not do the job. But if you’re a rather more practical person and style isn’t the primary focus, this bag is pretty much a match for you and at a price of RM199.00, its relatively affordable.

Hype Clothing Co

Truly an underrated local brand. Established back in 2012 in Malaysia, Hype draws most of its inspiration from classic modern American subculture. Hype offers a big selection of waist bags based of their different collections and when it comes to quality, its quite on par with Crossover’s items. However, the price point is very much different, as Hype offers waist bags from as low as RM80.00.

Obscr

Obscr is one brand that does not place huge branding on its pieces. Known for their revere shirts, they do make good accessories as well. A mid-sized bag that is enough for all of you belongings, the bag also features a reflective panel. A good brand to start if you fancy subtle branding. Prices are reasonable, starting from RM149.00 – RM159.00.

Supreme

If you’re looking for an investment piece, or simply want to rock on with the hype, Supreme is definitely it. If you’re lucky, you may be able to get one for retail, but if that’s not the case, prices range from approximately RM750.00 – RM1,000 at resell. In my opinion Supreme bags relatively holds up pretty well, and definitely this bag will be the highlight of your outfit. But in my opinion its price to quality ratio is definitely not worth the money. If you think otherwise, The Fourheads at Lot 10 is definitely your best bet to see and try.

Palace

What used to be an underrated skate brand in London has now turned into a British streetwear powerhouse, Palace caters to skateboarders, but also come equip with a myriad of accessories. Palace rarely release waist bags as compared to Supreme, but when they do, it’s usually slightly smaller in size. If you’re looking for something which you can throw all your belongings in, this is one you should pass on. Prices set are slightly lower compared to Supreme, starts from RM450.00 to about RM1000.00.

Porter

One of my go to brand for accessories, Poter Yoshida has been making quality bags and accessories since 1998. Known for the utilitarian design with nylon material they called the Tanker, the waist bag is an extremely durable bag that will definitely give you so much more bang for your buck. Entry level Porter bags goes for around RM450.00, which is not bad for its built quality and the simplicity of it. It will add some taste to your fit, but don’t expect attention from people when rocking this bag.

Jordan Reiterates The ‘Banned’ Backstory In The Form Of The Air Jordan 1 Defiant “Couture”

There has been some talk as to what Jordan brand were thinking when they came up with this colourway, a supposedly high fashion inspired take on the famed “Banned” colour of the Air Jordan 1, and opinions are quite split. Let’s talk backstory first.

The “Banned” story is extremely well known; every time Michael Jordan laced up the infamous Black/Red colourway, Nike would be hit with a substantial fine, and Nike would pick up the tab every single time. This was seen by many as an act of rebellion, and the “Couture” embodies this spirit visually with the striking red bar covering the Swoosh logo. The premise then, can be taken as aforementioned, a big fuck you to the NBA that rose above to become a sneaker icon despite the league’s inherent prohibition. Or it could be that the design was taken in inspiration to the high fashion realms, as observed by the use of un-tumbled leather.

Apart from the apparent red stripe, the shoe is clad in all-black, finished with a cream midsole to accentuate a vintage look. Regardless whether it is a reiteration of the story or an inspiration from high fashion, on the right outfit, the shoe pulls off overstatement with relative understatement. Another Jordan Easter Egg is the choice of materials, or rather, the thought behind it. Jordan Brand claims that the overall look of it was inspired by the craftsmanship behind luxury Italian sports cars, which happens to be another hobby of the man himself who liked to collect said sports cars. Not exactly pertinent information, but a nice touch nonetheless.

The Air Jordan 1 “Defiant Couture” releases on the 15th of March, Friday, for an approximate price of RM 609. Sacrilege, or a new way forward?

Aleali May’s Air Jordan 6 Is Dropping Here

Like The Infrared, But Pink

Aleali May is known for many things. Stylist, model, designer, and influencer are the few things present on her CV, but more importantly, she’s been getting her hands dirty designing several Air Jordan models, specifically for women. Prior to this, her highly rated Air Jordan 1 model with detachable faux fur cover a massive success, both for women and men alike.

Now though, Jordan continues on with its collaborative effort to produce what we think is second best to the “Infrared” type of colourway, the “Rust Pink.” The premium nubuck upper is highlighted much more subtly as details previous hidden in the “Infrared” are brought to light in the soft hue. “Infrared” detailing is retained throughout, with hits of red and white adorning the midsole of the shoe whilst the “Rust Pink” provides an alternate colour we never knew we needed. Even though it’s for women, that doesn’t matter. When the colour is this nice, who gives a shit. Wear it. It’s 2019, gender equality is on the rise.

Something to note is that it is an NRG model, making it a very limited release. The Air Jordan 6 ‘Aleali May’ will drop on 15th of March, for a price of approximately RM 817. Mark your calendars.

Nike Throws Back To The Early Noughties With The P-6000

Retro Vibes All The Way

We cannot stress this enough: Why do women get the better colourways and design? Somewhat new retro throwbacks don’t happen too often, and as Nike takes a holiday from going into the future, the brand looks back into the archive to create what we think is one of the best looking retrofuture silhouettes in the form of the Nike P-6000. Let’s start with the highlights.

First, the P-6000 is sort of like a best of compilation of the Pegasus’ past. Details and features from various Pegasus models are meshed and made, resulting in a silhouette that employs breathable mesh with horizontal and vertical overlays that is not only visually striking, but also comfortable.

Comfort is provided by Cushlon, clad with a waffled outsole for all-day comfort who casual jogs every now and then. An embroidered red Swoosh completes the silhouette, overlaying a combination of whites, grays, and blacks.

Price point is relatively affordable too. With a retail price of RM 389, it’s an easy add to your wardrobe if you’re into retro throwbacks. Sometimes, it’s nice to revisit the past every once in a while.

The Nike P-6000 launches online at Nike.com on the 7th of March, 2019.

Take A Look At Off-White’s SS19 Offerings

Written by Sean Ho

Virgil Abloh is one individual who does things a bit differently, as exemplified by his latest SS19 Ready-To-Wear collection. Contrast becomes a key highlight, as the womenswear and menswear do not follow the same thematic, rather immerses itself in different subcultures.

Dubbed ‘Jim Stark,’ the menswear line gives focus towards bold graphics, t-shirts, and strong attire with scripted embroidered and studded jeans in collaboration with En Bravado. In many ways, its a homage to skate culture, emphasising details of industrial chains and charms paired with cropped utility jeans.

Always one does things differently, after the recent Off White’s fashion show, Virgil Abloh has presented his womenswear and menswear SS19 collection with it being titled track & field and as for the mens collection goes it rather contrasts with the women line. The mens collection is titled ‘ Jim Stark’ giving focus towards bold graphics, t-shirts and strong attire with scripted embroiled and studded jeans. As far as the t-shirts go, New York based graffiti artist, Donald “Dondi” White’s best known works is being featured across most of the apparel in the collection. In addition to the design, Bart Simpson also makes an appearance as a print in some garments.

The womenswear however, has more visual and physical impact. “Sport, like fashion, shares a common language that seeks to unite cultures, break down barriers and celebrate the power of the human spirit,” says Abloh. “This season, I was inspired by the voice of the athlete and the power of sport to impact positive and transformative change globally.”

In other words, Abloh is clashing two things together that doesn’t relate at all for the women’s line. The focus now, is the impact of femininity against athletic apparel, as textures and silhouettes come together to create something called “sports couture,” rather than “athleisure.”

Being the creative genius Abloh is, he decides to clash two things together that does not relate at all for the women line. He focuses on femininity against athletic apparel. The textures and silhouettes in the collection focuses around this concept, Abloh’s goal was to make this collection  “sports couture” instead of “athleisure”. For example like, taking an athletic sneaker and revamping it into a feminine high heel.

The collection is now ready for purchase at Off-White Malaysia, go check them out!

A Closer Look At The Yeezy 350 “Hyperspace” And Where To Get It

I think I’ll put my foot down on this one and say that the Yeezy 350 “Hyperspace” colourway is better than the “Static.”

Part of a new series of colourways that release according to the region, Asia Pacific will get the “Hyperspace” while America gets the “Clay” and Central regions like Europe and Africa will get the “True Form” palette, and from the looks of it, we’re getting the best out of the three. Let’s talk details.

The “Hyperspace” features a colour similar to “Salt,” a slightly blue-ish tint grey on the upper with a see-through stripe first seen on the “Static,” with the inside details reminiscent of the gum detailings on the outsole. Weave pattern no longer follows the normal V2 pattern, instead following the more recent one.

Apart from the delicious looking upper, the Yeezy 350 includes a full-length Boost midsole, finished with a gum outsole, first seen on the ‘Semi-Frozen Yellow” colourway.

The “Hyperspace” will release on the 16th of March, 10 AM at Adidas Originals KLCC and Pavilion, Sole What Gardens, Crossover Mid Valley, and JD Sports Pavilion for a price of RM 990.
