UPDATE: Streetwear Busta MY’s Account Has Been Suspended, Continues With Another Account

As you recall, one Instagram account has been actively calling out celebrities and instafamous people flexing on their fake brands, and subsequently gained overnight fame as more and more people are hounding to get in on the juice of who’s currently repping the hottest fake item right now.

Unfortunately, Streetwearbustamy has gotten a lot of heat overnight, not helped also by missing a few marks and getting counter-called by celebrities who are fuming at the account’s false accusations. Syed Safiq (ig: imsyedsafiq) fired back at the account in full fury, after a false accusation that his Gucci Embroidered Brogues were fake. The end result then, after many reports, the account has been shutdown.

Or so we thought.

Apparently another account has surfaced, continuing the previous work of the closed account. Whilst searching, we also found another 2 accounts in similar name. Is this the legit one? We’ll never know. Regardless, we think this kind of work should be kept up, and come on, infringing other people’s copyright is already wrong as it is, so why would you proudly show it off? Let’s keep the scene clean for the rest of us.

The Father Of Dad Shoes, The Nike Air Monarch IV Drops Today

Written By Zaaim Hariz

Seeing is believing, as many fashion brands have finally succumbed to creating their own bulky and chunky shoes, with the recent Puma Thunder Spectra, Balenciaga Triple S and even Adidas Yeezy 500 has made their way into almost every sneakerhead’s wardrobe, but if you’re not satisfied with your collection of certified Dad Shoes, you can do yourself a favour coz the Nike Air Monarch IV, The King of Dad Shoes is finally releasing in Malaysia.

The unisex trainer was first release in the US a couple years back but it doesn’t get the notoriety that it’s getting now until recently. With the term “It goes with anything” can be such a huge fuss for everyone or of course your typical Hypebeast, the Monarchs can definitely do a lot of justice with any of your outfits. We have seen different renditions of the Monarchs such as M2K Tekno and Weekend Campout but you can never go wrong with the one of the OGs.

Nike Air Monarch IV will be retailing for RM 188, and is available now at Nike.

A Closer Look At The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo

Written by Zaaim Hariz

In 1983, Nike introduces the Pegasus, the first edition of the successful line and for decades, one of the most prominent line of running shoes that marked a new standard of comfort for running shoes.

Editions after editions, we are finally getting Nike’s most advanced running shoes to date. The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo was inspired from the Zoom Vaporfly Elite and Air Zoom Pegasus combined, with the shoe deriving cutting edge foam technology from the former, ZoomX. It is also the first training / running shoe that Nike uses the ZoomX foam, and made available for everyone to get their hands on.

With the combination of the new cushion technology and the sleek design, debuting with a cool mix of hot punch orange and mint, sneaker heads may need to keep their eyes peeled. The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo will retail for RM669 ($180). Global release is estimated to drop on the 2nd of August but it is yet to be confirm, so stay tuned for more announcement.

Vans Vision Walk: Through The Lens Of Ajiem

Click. The shutter closes on Porock Luis as he lands a Nollie in front of 11 participants. Ajiem looks particularly satisfied with the photo; while everyone else relied smack on burst shots to compensate for the speed of the trick, he only took one, right at the peak point of the landing. This then, is the end result of 13 years of passion and dedication, in a very niche segment called skate photography that Ajiem has tirelessly pursued, all in the name of that one perfect shot.

We were a bit late when we arrived at the Putrajaya Challenge Park during the theory segment on the basics of skate photography, and only caught him halfway when he was explaining how to compose a shot. “It’s key that you capture the motion of the skateboarder as he is performing the trick,” says Ajiem, “The visual impact radiates forward moving energy and pace, and you can feel it through the photo.”

Nods and intense staring were shared as Ajiem shows his golden tips on how to take the shot. He then proceeds to take out his equipment, a variety of zoom lens, wide lens and 3 flash guns, of which 2 were cylindrical in shape. “I use all three and position them so that when the skater lands a trick, light is produced evenly without any dark spots present,” Ajiem explains.

We then proceed down to the skate park to put theory into practice. The searing heat wasn’t a deterrence for some of the participants, as they take their positions on the curbs as two of Vans’ skaters, none other than Azreen Azman and Porock Luis ready themselves for the run down to perform one of the more simpler tricks in the book: the nollie. Ajiem takes his stance, and proceeds to track Azreen as he skates down from the sides all the way to the ramp and jumps.

Shutters click amidst the noise of skateboards landing and grinding. While everyone was frantically taking as much shots as possible, Ajiem coolly takes one shot, reviews it, and waits for another. This went on for about 15 more minutes as the skaters alternated and performed tricks for the photographers.

Just before the mislanding

After that, we adjourned to Putrajaya City Centre for a change of scenery. After finding a bench to grind on, the participants proceeded to take their place, once again priming their cameras to fire, this time with Azreen on deck, performing a simple nose grind.

At this point we were all drenched in sweat, persistent against the heat in order to defy odds and capture as much shots as possible.

We were all drained by the end of session, but not before finishing off in one more location, in front of the national treasury building. Azreen got to grinding on one of the benches, but was met with much difficulty. Apparently, the tiles weren’t smooth enough to execute a smooth grind, and carrying too much speed before the trick could mean a greater chance of falling over after trying to stick on the railing. After about an hour or so of multiple failed attempts, Azreen managed to land a grind, and we packed up back to the skatepark.

It was interesting to know that it definitely wasn’t easy to do skate photography, especially when the weather isn’t on your side. “That’s the thing about skate photography. Patience is key, but the persistence always pays off when you get the shot that you need,” Ajiem explains. It’s a no brainer really, and after multiple award winning shots, compiled into a book, I think he’s very much qualified to tell that patience is all you need.

Vincent “Vans” Gogh Set To Release Soon

We Can’t Help Ourselves

Teasers of the Vans X Van Gogh silhouettes have been circulating around the internet for a while, but we have confirmation that the drop is happening here, in Malaysia. Despite all the hype however, the collab is or a good cause – The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam will portion part of its profits to preserve the legacy of he renowned artist and his collection, making sure that future generations are able to see and discover his work. Several of Van Gogh’s most iconic pieces are transplanted into different Vans silhouettes, of which we’ll detail further down.

Out of the 2,100 pieces of work that Van Gogh has produced, only 4 were chosen that were in line with the creative ethos of Vans as well as showcasing personal moments from the artist’s familial history. Skull, Almond Blossom, Sunflowers and Van Gogh’s self-portrait are the ones chosen to be highlighted in a new way.

The Classic Slip-On is chosen to highlight Skull, which began when Van Gogh began to formally study art. He centred his focus around colour theory through a series of skeletons that captured shade and light in an irreverent and dark expression. A long sleeved tee, hoodie, and hat with a drawing of a human skull completes the art piece highlight.

Sunflowers get dissected to cover all panels of the Authentic silhouette, and carried over into the Boyfriends Tee and Hoodie. Almond Blossom symbolizes new life and represents Van Gogh’s search for serenity, and to bring the print and its colors to life, Vans designers digitally printed Van Gogh’s painting atop a satin material to cover the Almond Blossom Bomber, hat and backpack.

But the one that we think is the best out of all is the Old Vineyard with Peasant Woman, printed across the Old Skool and Slip-On which features excerpts from handwritten letters from Vincent to his brother, Theo. 700 letters were sifted through and carefully selected to be featured on the Slip-On model.

The insole includes custom footbed art that is reminiscent of the artist’s brush strokes with co-branding together. Each piece also feature a special hangtag that highlights historical facts behind each piece of Van Gogh’s art.

“We are delighted with the Vans x Van Gogh Museum collection, as it ties in with our mission to make the life and work of Vincent van Gogh accessible to as many people as possible in order to enrich and inspire them”, said Adriaan Dönszelmann, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum. “By uniting Van Gogh’s iconic artworks with iconic Vans styles, our partnership brings Vincent’s art “Off The Wall” and into the world to a new audience outside the museum.”

The Vans X Van Gogh will be releasing at Vans retail stores on August 3rd. Keep your eyes peeled readers.

Homegrown Artist Julia Duclos Takes Her Music Career ‘Further’

Homegrown singer-songwriter Julia Duclos takes her music career to the next level with her debut single, “Further” which was released today.

Julia’s debut single “Further” is inspired by her own personal experience and her desire “to live an honest reality, love without hesitation, and create without restrictions”. The song is about two people who were once in love, grew apart due to distance but eventually learn more about themselves and each other. A message that she would like to convey to her female listeners through her single is that an end of a relationship isn’t the end of everything.

“‘Further’ is really about realising that you don’t have to be dependent on someone else to make yourself feel whole. Sometimes, you really do need that distance to get closer to who you really are. The chorus to this single was inspired by the emotionally stagnant state that I was in this significant other – and so the birth of these lyrics came to be when I felt like we were wasting each other’s time, feeding the contradictions in this relationship.’ – Julia breaking down her heartbreak anthem

Julia refrains from classifying ‘Further’ into a specific genre as she wants her single to relate and be enjoyed by fans of any genre of music. Her intentions are made clear as she includes smooth R&B vibes, subtle pop influences and hints of jazz in her song. Download her single from the iTunes store or listen to ‘Further’ on Spotify, Apple Music, Joox, KKBOX, and Deezer.
