Malaysia’s Very Own Streetwear Buster Cracks Down On That Fufu

Streetwear busters are quite commonplace in the scene, with folks from the likes of Dietprada, and Yeezy Busta actively calling out celebrities for flexing fake items on their Instagrams. It’s quite feel good to be honest, almost cathartic in nature to find that we aren’t the only victims of these scams, our local celebrities too get the axe every now and then.

Of course, the scene here is slightly different from the ones over the pond, considering we have celebrities also endorsing fake products openly on their respective instagrams, which makes the call out that much sweeter. Have a look at some of the posts below.

Calling out never felt so sweet. What do y’all think? Will pages like this curb and educate our citizens on streetwear, or will its effects be negligible? Say your thoughts in the comments below!

Timberland Taps Into Camo For Their New Apparel Collection

Camo print is versatile in the wardrobe as well as its actual usage out in the woods, but Timberland’s took it upon themselves to remix the standard print.

The brand’s new direction reflects the bridge in between outdoors and the urban jungle, hence the camo print is layered on top overhead city maps, to conjure up a pattern that is unlike the traditional. The MA-1 reversible bomber jacket takes centre stage to showcase the design, as the prints are lined on the jacket, while the city map defines another layer within the camouflage patterns.

MA-1 Reversible Bomber Jacket

If camo doesn’t suit your fancy, classic Timberland Cruiser Jacket is available to complete your holiday attire. Function and form meld combine into one, as the clean looking jackets hides traveller-friendly details such as bungee closures, and Cordura® nylon material for everyday comfort.

The jacket comes in at a pricey RM859, and the Cruiser Jacket at RM1199. Eye-watering maybe, but it’s Timberland. You know it’ll last longer than your prized hoodie that you keep sealed inside a plastic bag.

Weather Report Says This Friday Will Be Hot, Because The Off-White x Nike Air Presto Is Dropping

This month has been intense with highly-sought after sneaker releases week after week. Nike continues to drain our bank accounts with this week’s limelight, the Off-White x Nike Air Presto.

As we all know, there are two colorways releasing for the second version of Off-White’s collaboration with Nike on the Air Presto but for this week, the triple black colorway will be releasing. This colorway features a contrast Swoosh logo, white “AIR” branding at the heel area, white labels with Nike branding on both tongues of the silhouette, and orange tabs attached by the Swoosh logo.

The Off-White x Nike Air Presto was in many’s top 5 silhouettes from ‘The Ten’ collection last year and with highly-inflated prices in the resell market, collectors and resellers will be going the extra mile to secure a pair for themselves. The suggested retail price was $160 (USD) so expect retail price to range between RM650 to RM800. We wish everyone luck for this release but if this pair isn’t your cup of tea, you may want to check out the upcoming Puma Suede x Santa Cruz releasing on the 26th of July.

In case you missed it, Berlin retailer Solebox forced its buyers to wear their Parra Air Max 1s before going out of the store.

The Borak Borak Sessions: Against Lab

“If you want something, go and get it.” This was a quote Shawn (@shawnduabui) took to heart, and along with Chern (@cloakwork) and Shaq (@shaqthecrony) started a brand that has been only been peaking with every consecutive release. From getting featured on Hypebeast as one of Asia’s best upcoming streetwear brand, to numerous international collaborations, follow Against Lab as they detail their thought process, inspirations and future plans for the brand.

Solebox Forces Resellers To Wear The Parra Air Max Ones

The third iteration of Parra’s collaboration with Nike, the Air Max 1 and Zoom Air Spiridon arrived to overwhelming reception when it was released a few days ago, following the hype of previous collabs, such as the Cherry Wood Air Max 1 and “Amsterdam” colourways. As with all hyped up items, the tail of resellers starts to follow up to the release date, but one retailer isn;t having any of it.

In a bid to curb resellers from massively inflating the newly released Parra Air Max 1 and Zoom Air Spiridon, Solebox in Germany have come up with a simple, yet brilliant way to do just that: by forcing buyers to wear their shoes before they walk out of the shop, effectively Un-DSing the shoe in the process. Some resellers immediately cleaned their outsoles outside the storefront, whilst others tip-toed in their shoes to negate creasing on the midsole.

The German retailer had this to say on their Instagram: “For this release, we did a ‘walk out’ which means they had to wear the shoes before leaving the store, but boy, you can’t stop ‘em from reselling, they immediately started to clean the shoes.”

What do you think? Should people be allowed to do whatever they want with the shoes, or is this one small step in a direction to make sure actual collectors get the pair without having to choke for resell prices? Sound off in the comments below.

Gosha Rubchinksy’s Skate Brand Lands In Malaysia

First and foremost, let’s clear some things up. While it’s spelled PACCBET, it’s pronounced as “Rass-vyet,” which means sunrise in Russian. It’s a damn good start for the slightly quirky designer that is Gosha Rubchinsky. Of whom, his skateboarding arm is going to be released here in Malaysia.

The collection features an extensive amounts of t-shirts, with a recurring phrase “rasSvet ne zA goRami,” spelled in English letters and no Cyrillic, which means “the sunrise is not far behind the mountain.” The long-sleeved shirts feature “это не рассвет,” translating to “It’s not PACCBET.” Socks with printed typography and a skate deck completes the collection.

Gosha’s partnership with Tolia Titaev seems promising, given that it’s targeted more towards the youth rather than ones who can splash the cash, but given that it’s by Gosha, we suspect the price won’t be cheap. Krookz KL will be stocking the collection, but most probably after 28th of July, following retailers like Dover Street Market and Commes Des Garcons releasing on the 28th as well. Will you be adding these to your collection?

If you’re planning to cop, pay any Royal Selangor store a visit and be ready to cough up 4 figures.

Hot Wheels Makes A Stop In Malaysia, By Bringing An RWB Porsche Along With It

Hot Wheels has a touch of sentiment to it when we were kids, regardless of whether we were born motorheads, or just loved flicking the toy cars around for fun. This year however, marks the first time Hot Wheels is actually coming down to Malaysia to celebrate their Hot Wheels Designer Tour  with Global Hot Wheels Product Design Manager, Dmitriy Shakhmatov.

Dmitriy Shakhmatov

As part of Hot Wheel’s 50th anniversary this year, the toy brand will be at Art Of Speed this year at MAEPS, Serdang to showcase a never before seen anniversary Hot Wheels model based on a life-sized Rauh-Welt Begriff Porsche 911, which will also be at the event. While no details of which RWB Porsche could be making an appearance, we suspect that it could be the RWB Miyabi, or Hyakka Ryoran, or a completely new model altogether. Will you be attending?

Heritage: The PUMA Suede X Santa Cruz Drops In Malaysia

PUMA really isn’t stopping with their collaborations. Right after several big ones from Big Sean and MCM, the brand has tapped Northern Cali natives and skate culture icons Santa Cruz Skateboards to celebrate half a century of PUMA Suede, and this one has a bit of history to too, because Santa Cruz Skateboards also happens to be the oldest skateboarding brand in the world.

Founded in 1973 by surfers Rich Novak, Doug Haut, and Jay Shuirman in Santa Cruz (Hence the name), the brand has never ceased production and has gained recognition worldwide, as it practically originated skate culture and its associated design language.

The shoe, while remaining simple with black suede upper and gum midsole, embeds a layer of complexity and heritage through the Formstrip and embroidered heel graphic. The “Screaming Hand,” as it was known, was and is still a cultural icon, developed by Jim Phillips Sr back in 1985. The graphic then, takes inspiration from expression through the way we use our hands, from speaking, through art, and music.

A blue hand literally screams, complete with a mouth that gapes wide open at the centre of the palm, tongue out and teeth on display, now a worldwide cultural icon, recognised widely through out the skateboarding community. The Formstrip is morphed to visualise the scream, a wave of red sound, rushed with adrenaline. The silhouette is finished with co-branding featured on the sneaker tongue. A limited edition collaborative tee featuring the same graphic completes the Santa Cruz pack.

One of the more unique collaborations, and one that stays true to the Suede’s roots, the PUMA suede 50 X Santa Cruz will be available on PUMA’s website and at PUMA KLCC and Sunway Pyramid this 26th of July.
