Continuing from their long-standing relationship, local streetwear outfit SuperSunday is seen once again working with street fashion photographer Ridduan “TTFGA” Ismail on a second lookbook of the brand’s “UPMOST” collection. Besides just capturing images, Ridduan also likes to infuse his own taste into each look, opting for a military meets nomad look and feel to the styling this time around.

NIK QISTINA RELEASE A NEW VARIATION OF HER FIRST SINGLE “YOUNG HEARTS” (BATES & SPUDS REMIX).

Following the roaring success of Nik Qistina’s first single, “Young Hearts”, the young songstress has teamed up with BATE and Spuds to release a remixed version through Universal Music Malaysia on the 10th February 2017 on all music digital platform. “Young Hearts”, originally produced by Kieran Kuek of Universal Music Publishing, took the internet by storm, and has gathered more than 800,000 plays on Spotify, and 480,000 views in total on YouTube.

 

Lyrically, the song is a coming-of-age anthem, focusing on the teenage struggle of looking for love in all the wrong places, getting to know yourself, and understanding that there are better and bigger things out there. “Young Hearts” is a song about coming to the realisation that loving yourself first, before anyone else, is so important. I’m still learning to appreciate myself for the person I was meant to be, and it’s an amazing feeling,” says Qistina of the song and the inspiration behind it.

MEGADETH BRINGS THEIR “DYSTOPIA” WORLD TOUR TO MALAYSIA!

One of the world’s top thrash metal bands credited with popularizing the genre, Megadeth, is finally coming to Malaysia! After a much-anticipated wait, Megadeth’s debut performance in Kuala Lumpur will see the band rock the Stadium Negara on Thursday, 4th May 2017 at 8pm. Founded in 1983, Megadeth virtually gave birth to a genre when their debut release became recognized as the Greatest Thrash Metal Debut Album of All Time. “Kuala Lumpur is somewhere I’ve always wanted to hit when we’ve been trekking through Asia,” co-founder and front man Dave Mustaine quoted saying in an interview recently. “They’re going to let us bring our brand of metal music, is really rewarding,” he added.

The tour is in support of their latest album Dystopia, their first album in 3 years and their fifteenth album to date. Rock critics and fans around the world are hailing Dystopia as a triumphant return from one of the most important bands in the scene. The album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance of 2017. With 49,000 units sold in its first week of release, Dystopia took the no. 3 spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart alongside Adele and Justin Bieber. It’s the highest charting album for the band since 1992’s Countdown to Extinction, which peaked at No. 2 on the chart. Dystopia was listed as one of the 20 Best Metal Albums of 2016 by Rolling Stone magazine.

The current Megadeth line up comprises of Dave Mustaine on vocals and guitar, David Ellefson on bass, guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Shawn Yue Talks About His Recent Madness Collab With Vans

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, is proud to introduce a collaboration with Hong Kong-based street fashion brand Madness; A footwear collection that combines Vans Classics with founder, Shawn Yue’s, fine sense of style and design inspiration. Both brands share similar values that encourage and facilitate creativity. The collection leveraged two Vans iconic styles: the SK8-Hi and the SK8-Mid; which are personal favourites of Shawn’s as they cater to different styles and fit everyday urban life with styling ease.

We also had the opportunity to interview Shawn himself where he talks about what inspired him in this recent collaboration. Peep the interview below.

 

1. Run us through the creative process behind this collaboration, what was the base idea and how did it expand to the finished product?

I WANTED TO CREATE SNEAKERS WITH MY FAVOURITE COLOR COMBINATIONS, AND WHAT I WEAR THE MOST OFTEN IN MY DAILY LIFE IS A PAIR OF SK8, SO I JUST SIMPLY PUT THEM TOGETHER.

 

2. What is the first thing that goes through your head when you hear the word “VANS”?

ORIGINAL STREET CULTURE.

 

3. What are your first memories of Vans?

THAT WAS A PAIR OF BLACK SK8 WHEN I WAS IN SECONDARY SCHOOL. AND I AM STILL WEARING THE SAME THING TODAY.

 

4. How big of a sneakerhead are you?

ACTUALLY I AM NOT A SNEAKERHEAD. I JUST WANT TO WEAR WHATEVER I FEEL AND FEEL COMFORTABLE WEARING IT.

 

 

5. You’ve chosen this particular silhouette for the collab, is it safe to say that this is your favourite silhouette from Vans?

DEFINITELY. I ALWAYS LOVE SK8, AND AUTHENTIC, AND SLIP-ON, AND …

 

6. You’ve mentioned in many previous interviews that you only do things that you like, and you basically started Madness to make clothes for yourself to wear. is it safe to say that Vans shoes is something that you wear on a daily basis? if yes, why?

YES, I HAVE MANY PAIRS OF VANS SNEAKERS AT HOME, THEY CAN BE MATCHED WITH ALMOST ANY KIND OF STYLES, NO MATTER MILITARY, OUTDOORS OR VINTAGE, AND THEY ARE JUST REALLY COZY.

 

Both the SK8-Hi and the SK8-Mid key elements include grey and blue tones in full suede upper, creating a low profile two-tone effect. The outsole features “all work and no play makes you mad” which comes from the tattoo on Shawn’s hand inspired by the movie “The Shining” – “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. The proportion and the detail of the tongue gusset are specifically made to fit Shawn’s style allowing you to rock with or without shoelaces and the SK8-Hi feature an additional zipper in the rear for easy access.

A New Breed of Hypervenom

The Swoosh started off 2017 with a bang with the all new Hypervenom 3. With only two things in mind of the designers: cut and strike. They finally introduced a whole flyknit upper on the Hypervenom range.

The most obvious improvement is of course the flyknit upper, the Hypervenom 2 saw a lot of complaints due to the stiff upper and Nike eventually changed them back using the first editions of NikeSkin. It seems like Nike have found the ultimate solution for the problem with a flyknit upper equipped with Poron foam pods on the Striking side, which was said to increase control and hardens when striking the ball, increasing the impact and power.

No, the dynamic collar is not a defective product. In fact, it is made that way to improve lateral stability in twist and turning on the pitch.

An all new sole plate was also integrated in the Hypervenom 3. Hexagon shaped studs was used to give players more grip during rotation and push-off. Nike took inspirations from the NikeFree and created the Hyper-Reactive plate whom gives a flexible forefoot.

Aweera Pours His Heart Out In Latest Single “Wanita Cinta Teragung”

Our very own local rock crooner that is slowly gaining popularity as a solo artist and currently competing in the reality TV program produced by Astro called Duo Star, Aweera has returned with a new single entitled ‘Wanita Cinta Teragung’.

The ex-frontman of Malaysian rock band Mojo with hits “Andai Ku Bercinta Lagi” and “Romancinta” that both gained more than 12 million viewers on YouTube is back with a heartfelt rock number composed entirely by him and produced by the talented singer-songwriter Taja of Meet Uncle Hussein.

‘Wanita Cinta Teragung’ is the second single by Aweera after the birth of his first single, ‘’Terhakis’’ under the management of Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia and as a solo rock singer.

This single tells the story of a man who is deeply and passionately in love with the woman he adores and prays that The Almighty will keep this sacred bind till their last breaths.

“This song is about what I feel because it is very raw and has a deeper meaning. It tells about my feelings towards the woman I love and I would do anything for her, even take a bullet in her honour. Let’s just say it is something very private and close to my heart and let it just be me the one who knows what it means,” says Aweera.

With its in-depth lyrics and rock ballad melody showcased, Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia believes this single will win the hearts of his fans and local rock music lovers alike.

Homegrown Nusantara Rock band the DISH has released their newest music video titled “KEHADAPAN” taken from their 2nd album “AKU DIA DAN NIRVANA”. Shot by the production team from Brex Productio they’ve did very well in producing the bands music video while they were on tour with the band in London last year. Based on their lyrics, the songs is basically about “Moving Forward And Never Backed Down In What You Do In Life”. HUF MY: Conscious Editorial by Bryzoid

In an effort to constantly keep things in the “Wait What?” Spirit, HUF Malaysia has teamed up with local creative powerhouse and fine-art photographer Bryzoid to produce an editorial titled “CONSCIOUS”, featuring a lot of “Wait What?” moments and HUF staple pieces. Keeping it raw, the editorial tells a story through each picture, expressing specific feelings and emotions and having it’s own identity that occupies the viewers consciousness, hence the name – CONSCIOUS.
