FEEL ALIVE BY THE LAST PORT FEAT. DARREN ASHLEY

Local electro wizard Darren Ashley is kicking off 2017 with a collaboration track with French-based artist and producer Raphael aka The Last Port titled “Feel Alive”. Raphael chimes in on how this collab came to fruition below:-

“I’m always searching for motivating collaborations all around the world. I first heard Darren’s voice on his collab with Pusher, which I enjoyed very much. Then I listened to his solo projects, and really liked his vocal work. I contacted him on SoundCloud, asking him if he would be interested in working on something with me. I sent him a rough track I was working on, and he immediately told me he wanted to do this. And the result was a great collab”.

In one of his recent Facebook updates, Darren Ashley has expressed that this is just the “First of this year’s handful of collaborations.” While we await for more great tunes, enjoy this current one above.

PATRIOTS “LIBERATE” FEAT. DAVID ESCAMILLA Music Video

Local post hardcore/pop mosh band from Shah Alam, the Patriots, just released another video titled “Liberate”, taken from their upcoming “The Stand Off ” EP. To recap from our previous post, the band was once known as “Heart-A-Tack”, though they’ve since undergone a makeover of sorts and seen a few changes to their lineup too.

As you all may know this song is a bit heavier (sounds a bit metalcore-ish) compared to their previous track that you’ve listen to like The Fallen, Terranova, Patriots and Conquest. But what’s interesting is that the band managed to get David Escamilla (ex member of Crown The Empire) to be feature on their songs.

If you’re wondering how the song turned out, check it out above.

For more updates about the band do check them out on their official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The Marksmen Series: @kosherunit

Before we get into the serious stuff, tell us more about yourself?
My name is Ivan. I go by the name @kosherunit on Instagram, currently 22 before may comes and I’m stationed in Penang, Malaysia. Been shooting for only 9 months and I remembered I started in June with just an iPhone and later moved on to an entry level DSLR and now a prosumer DSLR which is currently my favorite gear. I like to shoot architectures, urbanscapes and portraits but mostly personalities in portraits and the mood of the moment for landscapes.
How did you get yourself into photography?
I got into Photography when I started taking photos with my iPhone 6 and slowly started taking photos of my friend’s sneakers and it turned out not bad. I came to a point where I borrowed my friend’s camera for months just to shoot and it became something that I’m very intrigued by, given the ability to decide what you want in your frame and freeze the moment is what amazes me. I’m happy that I’m able to meet new people on Instagram even if they’re from other countries. Meeting up for photoshoots and chill out sessions where we share our experiences and knowledge in photography.
Currently the camera is such an essential thing in our everyday lives. Almost everyone has a camera. Be it a DSLR, Point&Shoot, or a camera phone. In your own opinion, where do you think the photography landscape is heading to? and with that said, how do you intend on being different from any Tom, Dick & Harry who has a camera?
In my opinion, I’m happy that people started to shoot more ever since the emergence of social media. Some photos are really sick if you really know who to follow on Instagram! Breathtaking photos. To me, Photography is an art and it should represent you and what you love, your own aesthetic most importantly. Anybody can buy a camera if you have money but it’s the ability to see the beauty in everything  that counts. Never die a copy.
Run us through some of the gear that you currently use.
I use a Nikon D7100 with a handful of lenses, such as the nikon 35/50mm prime lenses and the Nikon 10-24mm wide angle are a few of my favorites lens to shoot with.
What is it about photography that you enjoy the most?
I enjoy creating content and I love the fact that if you have the ability to capture a moment and immortalise it forever, because time stops for no one, so when it’s over, it’s over.  I enjoyed the fact that I’m able to meet new people of all places on Instagram and it’s the moment spent and captured. To me, that is what really counts in life.
Who are some of the local or international photographers who inspire you?
Well, I could say I am inspired by a handful in Instagrammers but here’s a few: @bludshot @jenniferbin @leeyikkeat @nikk_la and also @mellowedhigh. My preferred themed for my shoots are usually neo/noir urban theme.
